Original job description

PRI Consultants | Kelowna, BC, Vancouver, BC, Peterborough, ON & Halifax, Nova Scotia | Full-time, permanent

The Future of Consulting Starts Here.

About The Role

PRI Consultants is an independent, Canadian-owned multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consulting firm of roughly 150 professionals across eleven offices in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Nova Scotia. We are hiring an Intermediate Forest Analyst to join our Forestry & Inventory team, based out of one of our offices.

This is a varied role that combines office-based analysis, landscape modelling, and reporting, with potential for periodic fieldwork, including data collection for forest inventories and ecosystem mapping. You will support the delivery of strategic plans including forest management plans, forest inventories, carbon assessments, Ecosystem Goods and Services evaluations, biodiversity appraisals, and habitat management baselines and projections for a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients across Canada.

You will work alongside senior foresters, ecologists, GIS specialists, and project managers on a broad range of forestry, land management, and cumulative impact and environmental assessment projects. You will report to the Practice Lead, Forestry & Inventory and grow into more senior technical roles as you build your experience.

What You'll Do

Undertake and collaborate with team members on forest estate modelling and resource management planning projects using Forest Estate Models (Patchworks, Remsoft Spatial Planning Suite, STSM, SELES)
Conduct spatial analysis using ESRI/open-source products (PostgreSQL/POSTGIS)
Undertake data and statistical analysis (R, Python, Excel), growth and yield modelling (FPS, FVS, TASS, TIPSY, VDYP, GYPSY, MGM), and carbon modelling (GCBM, CBM)
Interpret and apply land use, forest inventory, and policy data
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on sustainable forest management, carbon analysis, and Indigenous-led stewardship and planning projects
Prepare high-quality technical reports and presentations for clients, government agencies, and stakeholders
Support senior staff in preparing bids, proposals, and project deliverables to agreed timescales and budgets
Maintain accurate project records, field notes, and document management in line with company QA procedures
Mentor junior analysts and contribute to the development of analytical tools and workflows

Required

What you bring

Degree or equivalent qualification in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline
Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in forest landscape analysis and modelling
Proficiency in spatial analysis, modelling software, and data visualization tools
Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to produce professional technical reports
Knowledge of forest management frameworks and legislation within BC and other jurisdictions
Full driving licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork, including to remote locations
Right to work in Canada without requiring visa sponsorship

Preferred

Consulting industry experience
RPF designation, or eligibility for registration

Why PRI

Varied work across forest management planning, carbon assessment, and environmental impact analysis for public and private sector clients across Canada
A collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment working alongside foresters, ecologists, GIS specialists, and project managers
Genuine mentorship and a growth path toward senior technical and RPF-eligible roles
Exposure to Indigenous-led stewardship and planning projects alongside traditional forest management work
Extended health and dental, RRSP matching, and professional dues paid

PRI is an equal-opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates and particularly encourage applications from Indigenous professionals.
