Original job description

About Primer

Primer is a performance marketing agency. We make the ads that drive results for our clients: static, video, and UGC for paid social on Meta and TikTok, plus landing pages. Performance data decides what we make next.

We've built AI production systems that do most of the heavy lifting in making our ads. We need strategists who can drive them: decide what to make, make it, and know when it's good.

The Role

We're hiring a Creative Strategist who makes the ads, not just the briefs. You'll own a set of client accounts. You'll decide what to test, then produce the assets yourself using our AI systems: statics, video edits, UGC cuts, and landing pages. Designers and editors are there for polish and hard problems, not first drafts.

You'll also make the systems better. When the output misses, you fix the prompt, the template, or the workflow so it doesn't miss the same way twice.

What You'll Do

Set the strategy

Turn client goals and performance data into angles, hooks, formats, and a testing roadmap.

Decide what we make next based on what the data says, not what feels right.

Lead client calls. Present the work and the results, handle feedback, and keep clients confident in the plan.

Make the ads

Produce assets end to end with our AI systems: statics, video edits, UGC scripts and cuts, and landing pages.

Produce in volume. Multiple variations per concept across hooks, visuals, CTAs, formats, and placements.

Judge your own output fast. Know what's ready, what needs a designer or editor, and what needs a new direction.

Own quality. Every asset is checked against brief, brand, copy, and spec before anyone else sees it. No typos, wrong sizes, or off-brand work reaching a client.

Learn and iterate

Run structured tests across hooks, visuals, CTAs, and formats. Document what wins and why.

Watch CTR, thumb-stop rate, CPA, and ROAS. Catch creative fatigue before the client does.

Adapt winning concepts across placements, from UGC-style TikTok and Reels to static and video for Meta.

Improve the systems

When the output misses, find out why and fix it: better prompts, templates, reference libraries, and workflows.

Share what works so the whole team gets faster.

Flag what the systems can't do yet and help shape what we build next.

What You Bring

Required

3+ years in performance creative or paid social at an agency. Do not apply unless you have this experience.

You are AI-obsessed. You've produced finished ads yourself with AI tools, not just briefed them. You love learning and tinkering and refining your AI knowledge and skills.

Client-facing experience. You can run a call, defend a recommendation, and keep a relationship healthy when results dip.

How You Work

You own outcomes and move work forward without being asked.

You'd rather ship ten good tests than one perfect ad.

You're comfortable killing ideas the data says aren't working.

You're organized across multiple accounts and deadlines.

Direct communication, overlap on U.S. business hours, on camera for calls.

You take feedback and apply it without re-litigating.

Nice to Have

Enough editing or design skill to finish what the AI gets close on (Figma, CapCut, Premiere, After Effects).

Familiarity with Motion or similar creative analytics tools.

This Role Isn't For You If

You have no agency experience

You want to write briefs and hand them off.

You've used AI for ideas but never to make finished ads.

You need a designer to tell you whether something is good.

You'd rather stay off client calls.

Where This Role Can Grow

Senior Creative Strategist: larger or more complex accounts and more say in how we approach strategy.

Owning part of Primer's AI systems: a workflow, a format, or the standards everyone works to.

Leading a pod or mentoring newer strategists.

We'll be clear about what earning that growth looks like.

How To Apply

Send three things:

A portfolio of ads you made or directed, with results where you have them.

A screen recording, under 5 minutes, of you making an ad with AI from scratch. Show the tools and the steps.

One paragraph: an AI-made ad of yours that didn't work, and what you changed

More about this job

Responsibilities

Develop creative strategies and testing roadmaps from client goals and performance data, then produce and quality-check ads and landing pages using AI systems. Analyze results, adapt winning concepts across formats and placements, manage client communication, and improve the prompts, templates, and workflows used by the team.

Requirements

Applicants must have at least three years of agency experience in performance creative or paid social, hands-on experience producing finished ads with AI tools, and client-facing experience. They should be organized, proactive, comfortable making data-led decisions and producing work at volume, and able to overlap with U.S. business hours and appear on camera for calls.
