Original job description

Pay or shift range: $31.68 CAD to $35.70 CAD

The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

Description

We're hiring an experienced Press Operator to run our 10-colour flexographic printing press and take pride in every roll that leaves it.

If you thrive on a fast-paced floor, sweat the small details and want a clear path to higher-skilled, higher-paid roles, this is your next move. This is a new position as we continue to grow. Pay range $31.68 to $35.70 per hour.

Safety is how we work here, not a slogan. Everyone on our team follows all workplace regulations, policies and initiatives, and brings strong communication skills and a drive for continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

Set it up right. Install plates and cylinders, adjust pressure, and lock in alignment and registration on our 10-colour flexo press.
Keep eyes on the run. Constantly check the machine's running conditions and the job being printed.
Catch problems early. Watch for print defects or spills from a doctor blade failure, pull the roll, and use the camera spot-check detection system to inspect for metal contaminants at least three times (a few minutes each) per printed roll.
Measure every roll. Verify repeat length at the end of each print roll.
Keep the ink in the zone. Maintain ink viscosity, ink levels and the flow of every ink pump in use, and set up and maintain the automatic viscosity control system.
Keep equipment running clean. Make sure all rollers and B.C. dryers work properly and are free of obstructions.
Flag it, fix it. Mark defects in a roll with flags and reports, and remove them before the roll moves to the next process.
Check the coating. Test the treat or saran coating of each roll after a mill roll splice.
Nail the colour. Take samples from every printed roll and use the x-rite to set and monitor colour to customer specification and for future reference.
Hand off a clean press. Leave the press and surrounding areas in good order for the incoming shift.
Pitch in. Take on any other duties assigned by your Supervisor.

Your Schedule

Days, nights, and plenty of time to recharge. This role runs on a 12-hour rotating shift over a four-week cycle, with scheduled days off built in.

Day shift: 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Night shift: 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Physical demands: Lifting up to 40 pounds, plus walking and standing for long periods.

Why You'll Love It

Hands-on, supported learning. Work in a team-oriented environment where people help each other.
Skills that last. Build technical skills that set you up for long-term career success.
Group benefits. Coverage starts after you complete a 3-month probationary period
A team that has fun. Company incentives, events and ideas to boost collaboration and morale.

Who You Are

You're a fast-paced learner and a team player who likes helping others succeed, and you hold safety, quality and continuous improvement as your own standards.
