Senior Murex Developer

Job Description:

Our Banking client is currently sourcing for a Senior Murex Developer (Commodities Trade Capture) to support the Commodity Derivatives platform migration from Openlink Endur to Murex MX.3.

This is a hybrid contract role in Toronto (2 days in office per week).

Role Overview

This role supports the Commodity Derivatives technology team as it transitions from Openlink Endur to Murex MX.3. The work centres on trade capture, including MxML-based integration and Front Office configuration, with Java development to close gaps that arise during the migration. The role works with Business Analysts and Front Office, Back Office and Market Risk users to deliver accurate technical solutions across metals, energy and FX trading.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure and support Murex MX.3 trade capture and Front Office functionality for commodity and FX derivatives
• Design, build and maintain MxML-based integrations for trade capture flows into and out of Murex
• Develop Java components and scripts to support migration requirements and custom functionality
• Support the migration of Endur functionality, trade flows and logic to Murex, including testing and validation
• Work with Technology BAs and business users in Front Office, Back Office and Market Risk to gather requirements and author functional specifications
• Support data exchange with downstream systems and the enterprise integration bus
• Deliver changes through the CI/CD pipeline and support testing, release and production issue resolution

Must-Have Skills

• Hands-on experience with Murex MX.3, including Front Office and trade capture
• Experience with MxML for trade capture and system integration
• Java development experience
• Oracle and SQL
• Unix/Linux and scripting
• Experience in Capital Markets derivatives, including deal modelling, valuation, pricing and risk management
• Commodity trading or FX trading domain knowledge
• Working knowledge of the full SDLC, from requirements gathering through testing and delivery
• Experience working in a CI/CD environment
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field

Nice to Have Skills

• Commodities experience in metals, energy or agriculture
• Prior Openlink Endur experience (AVS or JVS)
• Experience with enterprise integration or low-code bus platforms
• MQ messaging, FIX messaging and XML
• Datamart experience
• Regulatory knowledge (Dodd-Frank, MiFID)
• Experience with downstream platforms such as Calypso or data lakes

Ideal Candidate

• Has worked on a Murex implementation or migration programme, particularly from another trading platform
• Has Murex Front Office or implementation experience specific to commodities
• Combines Murex configuration depth with prior Java development experience
