Produce Express could be the perfect fit! We’re currently hiring a Full-Time Category Buyer who is detail-oriented, organized, and ready to contribute to a dynamic, fast-paced team.

Summary

Organized proactive category buyer to manage day to day purchasing and inventory requirements across multiple grocery product categories. The role is responsible for ensuring product availability, monitoring sales, managing supplier communications, and supporting purchasing and inventory best practices.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Create and manage purchase orders to maintain appropriate inventory levels and meet customer demand
• Monitor sales trends, school orders, inventory levels, and supplier lead times to proactively manage replenishment
• Communicate with suppliers regarding orders, deliveries, shortages, substitutions and product availability
• Support new product requests
• Monitor inventory for short dated, expired, slow moving, or excess product to minimize waste
• Collaborate with operations, inventory, customer service and accounting teams to improve inventory accuracy, product rotation and order fulfillment
• Ensure adequate product availability ahead of school order days
• Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies by reconciling purchase orders, invoices, receiving records and agreed pricing.
• Use Microsoft Business Central to manage purchasing activities and maintain accurate records (Business central work history is an asset, not required)
• Review school sales and purchasing patterns alongside other category buyer to support demand planning / ordering
• Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, category performance, inventory management
• Support retail purchasing and promotional calendar administration as required
• Escalate pricing concerns and opportunities to the Director of Grocery Procurement

Qualifications:

• Experience in purchasing, buying, inventory management, supply chain an asset.
• Strong organizational skills & attention to detail
• Proficiency with excel. Business central experience an asset
• Strong communication and problem solving skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently
• Proactive, analytical and accountable approach to work
