Under the authority of the Professional Engineers Act, PEO licenses and governs over 91,500 licence and certificate holders and regulates the practice of professional engineering in Ontario. PEO’s mission is to regulate and advance the practice of engineering to protect the public interest. With a talented, multidisciplinary staff of over 100, PEO’s vision is to be a trusted leader in professional self-regulation.

Position Summary

The Corporate Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of strategic initiatives that support organizational priorities, including reporting aligned with the 2026-2030 Strategic Plan deliverables. The role serves as a critical liaison between Regulatory Strategy and Regulatory Operations, ensuring project objectives are clearly defined, effectively executed, and aligned with organizational and Council-directed priorities.

The role ensures implementation and operational readiness considerations are embedded throughout the project lifecycle, including during policy design and development. This includes engaging and coordinating affected business areas and support functions, including Policy, Regulatory Operations, IT, Communications, External Relations, Human Resources, Finance, and other organizational units, to identify requirements, assess impacts, support change management activities, and facilitate the successful implementation of project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain standardized project artifacts, including SOPs, project plans, project frameworks, business requirement documents, and supporting documentation, to ensure completeness of records and enable a structured, well-documented transition from policy design and development through to operational readiness, implementation, and business delivery.
  • Prepare project reports for senior leadership and the Board, providing insights on project status, operational readiness, strategic risks, cross-functional impacts, resource implications, and overall delivery outlook to support informed decision-making.
  • Manage project execution from inception to handover through standard implementation and business handover, ensuring policy decisions are translated into operational processes, systems, and business practices through effective cross-functional collaboration and project management
  • Determine the appropriate documentation (communication plans, schedules/timelines, status reports, closure summary, budget, risk plan, etc.) for projects.
  • Manage ongoing vendor relationships, including change orders and Statements of Work, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations and project objectives.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks and issues related to project delivery, policy implementation, operational readiness, stakeholder impacts, and organizational change, ensuring timely escalation and resolution.
  • Develop and deliver effective presentations and communications to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Specialized Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, coordination, and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail and the ability to identify issues, assess risks, and support successful project delivery.
  • Strong project management knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools, including Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Visio, Power BI, and similar platforms, with experience supporting Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of policy development and implementation processes, including the translation of policy decisions into project requirements, business processes, operational procedures, and implementation plans.
  • Knowledge of PEO's legislative and regulatory framework and the ability to incorporate regulatory requirements into project planning, risk management, governance, and delivery activities.
  • Ability to assess and manage the operational, technology, communications, human resources, financial, and stakeholder impacts of projects, initiatives, and organizational change.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and coordinate cross-functional stakeholders, facilitate consensus, and integrate implementation, operational readiness, and change management considerations into project planning and execution.
  • Experience managing projects through the full lifecycle, from strategy and requirements development through implementation, transition, and business adoption.

Education/Qualifications:

  • 5–7 years of project management experience.
  • Experience communicating with senior-level executives.
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration or a related field.
