Original job description

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Analyst will support accounts payable operations, general accounting activities, and month-end close processes. This role focuses on accurate invoice processing, expense management, account reconciliations, and maintaining financial records while identifying opportunities for process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Process a high volume of vendor invoices, ensuring accurate entry, timely approvals, and prompt resolution of vendor inquiries.
Monitor accounts payable records to ensure timely payments, identify discrepancies, and resolve irregularities.
Process customer deduction invoices and investigate related discrepancies and inquiries.
Review and process employee expense reports to ensure compliance with company policies and accurate expense coding.
Follow up with employees and liaise with external service providers to resolve outstanding expense and payment inquiries.
Prepare journal entries and support weekly and monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations.
Ensure invoices, accruals, and other financial transactions are recorded accurately and on time to support month-end close.
Maintain accurate financial records and assist with resolving outstanding accounting discrepancies.
Prepare and enhance reporting templates to support internal teams with financial reporting and approval processes.
Respond to inquiries from vendors, customers, distribution partners, and internal stakeholders.
Assist with ad hoc reporting, financial analysis, and process improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience.
Strong analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
Experience with an ERP or accounting system; SAP experience is considered an asset.
Working knowledge of applicable sales taxes and relevant provincial and local tax requirements.
A proactive approach to process improvement, automation, and operational efficiency.
Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and collaborate across teams.

Education

Post-secondary education in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Working toward or completion of a CPA designation is preferred.
