We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the financial operations of multiple Quebec operating units within a complex, mission-driven organization.

This is a strategic leadership role that combines financial management, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, grant and funding oversight, and team leadership.

The Regional Controller will serve as a key financial partner to Regional Vice Presidents, operating-unit leadership, program teams, and central finance.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, sound business judgment, and the ability to translate financial information into meaningful insights that support organizational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis

Lead accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
Prepare and review financial statements and management reporting.
Analyze financial results, trends, variances, and forecasts.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Grant Management & Financial Compliance

Oversee financial aspects of external donor and grant funding.
Review funding proposals and monitor grant budgets and expenditures.
Ensure compliance with grant and funding requirements.
Prepare financial reports for donors and funding partners.
Work closely with program managers to align financial resources with program objectives.
Identify opportunities to maximize available funding and resources.

Budgeting & Financial Planning

Lead the development and management of regional and program budgets.
Partner with senior management and program leaders on budget development.
Monitor actual results against budget and investigate significant variances.
Develop financial forecasts, projections, and longer-term financial plans.
Provide strategic financial guidance to regional leadership.

Team Leadership

Lead and manage a small regional finance team.
Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations.
Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development.
Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and team development.
Establish a high-performing and accountable finance function.

Leadership & Strategic Partnership

Participate as a member of regional senior management teams.
Act as the key financial liaison between regional operating units and central finance.
Promote financial literacy and sound financial decision-making across the organization.
Translate complex financial information into clear recommendations for non-financial leaders.
Contribute to strategic initiatives and long-term organizational planning.

Internal Controls, Risk & Compliance

Maintain and strengthen financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Identify and manage financial risks and potential areas of exposure.
Conduct regular financial reviews and recommend improvements.
Ensure regional financial activities comply with internal policies and external requirements.

Additional Responsibilities

Provide ad hoc financial analysis and decision support.
Review financial commitments, agreements, and contracts.
Support special projects and financial initiatives.
Participate in project management and other finance-related initiatives as required.

Qualifications & Experience

CPA designation required.
Bilingual in English and French. Must have
Non for Profit Industry experience
University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of management and leadership experience in a complex organization.
Proven experience leading and developing a finance team.
Experience managing multifaceted financial projects and strategic initiatives.
Strong knowledge across multiple accounting functions, including:
Accounts Payable
Accounts Receivable
Fund Accounting
Project Accounting
Grant Accounting & Reporting
Financial Statement Analysis
Budgeting & Forecasting
Internal Controls & Compliance
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively with senior leaders, operational teams, program managers, and finance professionals.
Strong ability to balance technical accounting requirements with strategic business priorities.

Location : Ontario or Quebec
