Job Title: Procurement Specialist – Ground Services Equipment (GSE)
Location: Mississauga, ON (On-site)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: $75,000 – $95,000 a year CAD
About the Role
A leading Canadian air cargo carrier is seeking an experienced, hands-on Procurement Specialist to lead sourcing, purchasing, and vendor management for Ground Services Equipment (GSE) and maintenance supplies across our network.
In this role, you will manage end-to-end purchasing for critical ground equipment (tugs, loaders, forklifts, ground power units, cargo handling gear) as well as the consumable parts, oils, lubricants, batteries, and tires that keep our fleet moving. Working closely with corporate procurement leadership and on-site station managers, you will drive cost efficiencies without compromising operational safety, quality, or supply security.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Sourcing & Purchasing: Source GSE equipment, parts, and consumables; issue purchase orders (POs); identify cost-saving opportunities; and conduct make-vs-buy analyses on repairs and refurbishments.
- Vendor & Contract Management: Support contract negotiations with OEMs, distributors, and aftermarket suppliers covering pricing, warranty, and delivery terms; monitor supplier performance KPIs and resolve day-to-day service or fulfillment issues.
- Cost Optimization & Finance: Lead competitive bidding, volume consolidation, and price negotiations; collaborate with Finance on PO processing, invoice reconciliation, and payment terms.
- Supply Continuity & Expediting: Rapidly source and expedite replacement parts during unexpected equipment downtime to support continuous network operations.
- Inventory & Standardization: Standardize part specifications across stations to reduce overall SKU counts and maintain the Approved Vendor List (AVL).
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with Station Managers across locations and optimize procure-to-pay workflows within SAP S/4HANA.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 5+ years of procurement experience in an industrial setting. Background in Aviation, Aerospace, or Automotive is strongly preferred.
- Contract Negotiation: Demonstrated history of negotiating favorable contracts with OEMs and suppliers, delivering quantifiable cost savings.
- ERP & Systems: Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA (or a comparable enterprise ERP procurement module).
- Analytical Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency (pivot tables, cost modeling, scenario analysis) paired with a solid grasp of financial concepts (TCO, ROI, budget management).
- Autonomy: Strong ability to independently resolve procurement, contract, and logistics bottlenecks across a multi-site network.
What We Offer
- Competitive annual salary ($75,000 – $95,000 CAD)
- Comprehensive benefits package
- Opportunity to work with a nationwide, mission-critical logistics provider
