Production Manager
Location: Sarnia, Ontario
Position: Full time, permanent, on site
Compensation: Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience
ProMart Industrial is growing, and we are looking for an exceptional Production Manager to help lead the next chapter of our manufacturing operations.
We have work lined up into 2028, major investments underway in robotics, automation, artificial intelligence, and advanced fabrication equipment, and an expanding portfolio of exciting projects across nuclear, hyperscale data centres, mining, defence, energy, and infrastructure.
Our vision is ambitious. We are working toward building one of the most advanced, efficient, and technologically driven steel fabrication operations in the industry.
To get there, we need someone who understands manufacturing, thrives on organization and problem solving, and knows how to turn complex production requirements into a well coordinated, highly productive operation.
This is an opportunity to have a meaningful impact on a growing Canadian company, influence major investments in manufacturing technology, and help shape the future of our production capabilities.
About ProMart
ProMart is a third generation, family built fabrication and industrial contracting company operating in Sarnia since 1985.
Our operations include an 80,000 square foot fabrication shop, a 25,000 square foot climate controlled coating facility, and an 11 acre laydown and assembly yard. We provide detailing, fabrication, coatings, modular assembly, field installation, millwrighting, and construction services.
Our facilities incorporate advanced CNC processing, automated beam lines, plate processing equipment, and modern fabrication technologies. We continue to invest in new equipment, robotics, software, and manufacturing systems to strengthen our capabilities and improve the way we work.
We are also expanding our presence in highly demanding sectors, including Canada’s nuclear supply chain, where quality, traceability, scheduling discipline, and reliable execution are critical.
We are investing in this company for the long term, and we want outstanding people to be part of that future.
The Role
As Production Manager, you will take ownership of planning, organizing, coordinating, and driving production throughout our fabrication and coating operations.
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules, managing shop loading and capacity, coordinating material availability, overseeing inventory management, and ensuring work moves efficiently through every stage of manufacturing.
Working closely with our shop supervisors, project managers, detailing department, procurement, and quality teams, you will translate project requirements into clear, achievable production plans and ensure those plans are executed effectively.
You will play a central role in improving our production systems, identifying bottlenecks, maximizing equipment utilization, and helping integrate new technologies into our manufacturing processes.
We are looking for someone who can see the entire operation, anticipate challenges before they become problems, and bring the structure, accountability, and leadership needed to support continued growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive production schedules across multiple structural steel and industrial fabrication projects
- Manage shop loading, capacity planning, and production forecasting to balance available manpower, equipment, and project commitments
- Coordinate production activities across CNC processing, fitting, welding, assembly, coatings, and shipping
- Establish production priorities and ensure supervisors and production teams have clear direction on upcoming work
- Monitor production progress against schedules, budgets, estimated labour hours, and delivery commitments
- Identify production bottlenecks, resource constraints, and scheduling conflicts, and implement practical solutions
- Oversee inventory management, including raw materials, work in progress, consumables, and finished goods
- Work with purchasing and project management to ensure materials, drawings, equipment, and resources are available when required
- Improve material flow, shop organization, inventory accuracy, and overall manufacturing efficiency
- Develop and maintain production reporting, including shop loading forecasts, labour utilization, productivity, and schedule performance
- Coordinate with detailing and engineering teams to ensure drawings and fabrication information are released in alignment with production requirements
- Support production supervisors in manpower planning, work sequencing, resource allocation, and daily production execution
- Collaborate with quality personnel to ensure production activities meet applicable CWB, AISC, ISO, CSA N299.3, and project specific requirements
- Support material identification, traceability, inspection planning, and controlled production processes for nuclear and other quality critical projects
- Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement, waste reduction, and increased manufacturing productivity
- Participate in the evaluation and implementation of robotics, automated welding, advanced CNC equipment, artificial intelligence, and digital production management systems
- Help develop standardized workflows, production planning procedures, and performance measurements as our operations continue to expand
- Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, accountability, communication, and continuous improvement
What We Are Looking For
- Significant experience in production management, manufacturing operations, or production planning within structural steel fabrication, heavy manufacturing, or a related industrial environment
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes, equipment, material flow, and production sequencing
- Demonstrated experience developing production schedules, shop loading plans, and capacity forecasts
- Experience managing inventory, material requirements, work in progress, and production resources
- The ability to coordinate numerous projects simultaneously while maintaining production priorities and delivery commitments
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem solving skills
- Experience working with ERP, MRP, production scheduling, and inventory management software
- The ability to analyze production data, identify inefficiencies, and implement measurable improvements
- A practical understanding of labour productivity, production budgets, equipment utilization, and manufacturing performance
- Experience with CNC equipment, automated fabrication systems, robotics, or advanced manufacturing technologies is an asset
- Familiarity with AI applications, manufacturing automation, and digital production management is an asset
- Knowledge of CWB, AISC, ISO 9001, or CSA N299.3 quality requirements is an asset
- Experience supporting nuclear, defence, or other highly regulated manufacturing projects is an asset
- A proactive approach to planning, with the ability to anticipate problems and make sound operational decisions
- The confidence to challenge existing processes, introduce new ideas, and lead positive change
- A genuine passion for manufacturing, technology, operational excellence, and developing high performing teams
Why Join ProMart
There is an incredible amount happening at ProMart, and the opportunities ahead of us are significant.
We are working on projects that will help shape Canada’s industrial future, from nuclear energy and critical mineral development to some of the largest data centre and infrastructure investments in North America.
At the same time, we are making substantial investments in our own future.
We are advancing our capabilities in robotic welding, manufacturing automation, artificial intelligence, and integrated production management systems. Our goal is not simply to increase output. We want to fundamentally improve how structural steel and complex industrial assemblies are manufactured.
We want to build one of the most technologically advanced and efficient fabrication operations in the industry, and our Production Manager will play a critical role in making that happen.
This is not a position where you will simply maintain an existing schedule or oversee day to day production.
You will have the opportunity to help develop the systems, processes, technologies, and operational structure that support the next generation of our company.
We value people who take ownership, bring solutions, support their teams, and genuinely care about the quality of their work. We want someone who gets excited about improving manufacturing operations and takes pride in seeing a well planned production process come together.
If you are an experienced manufacturing professional looking for the opportunity to make a real impact, work on exceptional projects, and help build something that will set a new standard for our industry, we want to hear from you.
ProMart Industrial is an equal opportunity employer. Accommodations are available throughout the recruitment process upon request.
