Position Overview: The ideal candidate will be capable of carrying out formulation activities under the guidance and direction of a Senior Formulator. This role involves working in a laboratory environment while strictly following best laboratory practices, ensuring precision, accuracy, and proper documentation throughout all activities. Attention to detail, technical discipline, and the ability to follow established procedures are essential to successfully support formulation development and polymer processing activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and execute laboratory-scale formulations for powder coating development, following technical guidelines and instructions provided by the Senior Formulator.
Accurately weigh, dose, and blend raw materials to ensure formulation consistency, repeatability, and traceability.
Perform laboratory operations related to polymer processing, including premixing, extrusion, cooling, grinding/milling, and sieving of powder coating formulations.
Operate and monitor laboratory-scale equipment such as extruders, mixers, mills, and auxiliary processing tools in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Ensure strict compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), internal safety standards, and environmental regulations at all times.
Maintain laboratory equipment in proper working condition, including routine cleaning, basic maintenance, and verification of calibration status.
Record formulation data, processing parameters, and experimental results accurately in laboratory notebooks and electronic data management systems.
Prepare test panels and samples for physical, mechanical, and performance evaluations.
Support research and development activities by executing experimental plans with a high level of precision and attention to detail.
Assist in formulation optimization and process improvement activities under technical supervision.
Monitor material usage and support basic inventory control of raw materials and laboratory consumables.
Assist in pilot-scale trials and process validation activities as required.
Identify process deviations, equipment issues, or non-conforming results and report them promptly to the Senior Formulator or laboratory supervisor.

Qualifications:

DEC in Chemistry, polymers processing, materials science or equivalent. Or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Minimum one year of experience in a similar position (an asset).
Bilingualism (English/French) required.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical ability to perform testing and laboratory tasks, including lifting and handling materials.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex procedures accurately.
Positive attitude and excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
Previous experience in a R&D laboratory is considered an asset but not required.

Le(la) candidat(e) idéal(e) sera en mesure d’exécuter des activités de formulation sous la direction d’un(e) formulateur(trice) principal(e). Responsabilités principales

Préparer et exécuter des formulations à l’échelle laboratoire pour le développement de revêtements en poudre, conformément aux lignes directrices techniques et aux instructions du(de la) formulateur(trice) principal(e).
Peser, doser et mélanger avec exactitude les matières premières afin d’assurer la constance, la répétabilité et la traçabilité des formulations.
Effectuer des opérations de laboratoire liées à la transformation des polymères, incluant le prémélange, l’extrusion, le refroidissement, le broyage/la mouture et le tamisage des formulations de revêtements en poudre.
Faire fonctionner et surveiller l’équipement de laboratoire à l’échelle réduite (extrudeuses, mélangeurs, broyeurs et outils auxiliaires de traitement) conformément aux procédures opératoires normalisées (PON).
Assurer en tout temps une stricte conformité aux Bonnes pratiques de laboratoire (BPL), aux normes internes de sécurité et à la réglementation environnementale.
Maintenir les équipements de laboratoire en bon état de fonctionnement, incluant le nettoyage courant, l’entretien de base et la vérification de l’état d’étalonnage.
Consigner avec exactitude les données de formulation, les paramètres de traitement et les résultats expérimentaux dans les carnets de laboratoire et les systèmes électroniques de gestion des données.
Préparer des panneaux et des échantillons d’essai pour les évaluations physiques, mécaniques et de performance.
Appuyer les activités de recherche et développement en exécutant des plans expérimentaux avec un haut niveau de précision et d’attention au détail.
Contribuer à l’optimisation des formulations et à l’amélioration des procédés sous supervision technique.
Suivre l’utilisation des matériaux et appuyer la gestion de base des inventaires de matières premières et de consommables de laboratoire.
Participer aux essais à l’échelle pilote et aux activités de validation des procédés, au besoin.
Repérer toute déviation de procédé, anomalie d’équipement ou résultat non conforme et en informer rapidement le(la) formulateur(trice) principal(e) ou le(la) superviseur(e) de laboratoire.

Qualifications

DEC en chimie, transformation des polymères, science des matériaux ou équivalent, ou combinaison de formation et d’expérience pertinente.
Minimum d’un (1) an d’expérience dans un poste similaire (un atout).
Bilinguisme (anglais/français) exigé.
Capacité à travailler de façon autonome avec une supervision minimale.
Aptitude physique pour réaliser des essais et des tâches de laboratoire, incluant le levage et la manipulation de matériaux.
Grand souci du détail et capacité à suivre avec exactitude des procédures complexes.
Attitude positive et excellentes aptitudes en communication, avec la capacité de travailler efficacement au sein d’une équipe diversifiée.
Une expérience préalable en laboratoire de R‑D est considérée comme un atout, sans être obligatoire.
