About The Opportunity
PRI is a multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy delivering integrated geotechnical, environmental, structural and civil engineering services across Canada and internationally. With offices throughout Canada, our team combines technical excellence with a commitment to sustainable, pragmatic solutions for clients across the public, private, and resource sectors.
Our Surrey office supports a diverse and growing portfolio of projects throughout the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. We are a team of engineers, technologists, and scientists who take pride in delivering quality work, in the field and in the office.
PRI is seeking an Intermediate Civil Technologist to join our Surrey, BC team. In this role, you will support civil engineering design, drafting, and construction administration across a wide range of project types, including residential and commercial development, municipal infrastructure, transportation projects, and land development. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated technologist to advance their career within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary firm that values technical depth, field excellence, and professional growth.
What You’ll Own
- Prepare and update civil engineering drawings, including site plans, grading plans, and servicing plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D, and develop detailed designs for roads, storm and sanitary sewer systems, watermains, and site servicing.
- Perform quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and technical calculations, including site grading, drainage analysis, and erosion and sediment control design, in coordination with project engineers.
- Conduct field surveys, site assessments, and as-built verification, and perform construction inspection and contract administration, including review of contractor work for compliance with design drawings and specifications.
- Monitor and document construction progress and quality assurance activities, and liaise with contractors, municipal staff, and clients throughout construction.
- Prepare technical reports, design briefs, and servicing memos, and compile design, survey, and construction records to support municipal and regulatory submissions.
- Adhere to PRI’s Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) policies and project-specific safety plans, including daily tailgate meetings and field hazard assessments.
What you bring
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of civil engineering experience in a consulting environment.
- Registered or eligible for registration as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) through ASTTBC.
- Demonstrated experience with civil site design, including grading, servicing, and stormwater management.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and strong understanding of municipal design standards and the BC Building Code.
- Valid BC driver’s licence and reliable access to transportation.
- Ability to work in varied field environments and conditions, including active construction sites.
- Experience with construction administration and contract review.
- Familiarity with municipal approval processes and servicing agreements across Lower Mainland municipalities.
- Experience with land development or subdivision design.
- Proficiency with ArcGIS or similar technical software.
- First Aid certification (OFA Level 1 or higher).
- Experience working on BC Transportation, municipal infrastructure, or residential development projects.
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- Comprehensive group benefits package, including extended health, dental, and vision coverage.
- Support for professional development, including registration fees, training, and continuing education.
- A collaborative, team-focused culture that values both technical excellence and individual growth.
- Exposure to a diverse portfolio of challenging and meaningful projects across BC and beyond.
- Opportunities for career advancement within a growing, multi-disciplinary firm.
