ProxyLink is looking for an experienced Software Developer – Front End to support a Public Sector / Government of Ontario (OPS) client on large-scale and complex digital applications.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing high-quality front-end solutions, including user interface interactions and attractive, effective, and responsive user interfaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement front-end code and user interface interactions.
- Create attractive, effective, intuitive, and responsive user interfaces.
- Translate technical system specifications into working, tested applications.
- Develop, test, debug, maintain, and document application code.
- Conduct unit testing and support application quality throughout the development lifecycle.
- Design and implement interfaces for large-scale websites and complex enterprise systems.
- Ensure cross-browser compatibility and responsive behavior across devices and screen sizes.
- Collaborate with IT professionals, business stakeholders, QA teams, and subject matter experts throughout the SDLC.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to implementation, conversion, migration, and application operation.
- Participate in application deployment, design walkthroughs, technical reviews, and post-implementation support.
- Gather and document requirements from diverse business stakeholders and subject matter experts.
Front-End Skills
- Experience developing complete web-based user interfaces.
- Experience creating interfaces for large websites and complex, large-scale systems.
- Strong knowledge of responsive frameworks and cross-browser compatibility.
- Experience working with Social Media APIs.
- Ability to use basic artwork and visual assets to deliver polished user interfaces.
- Experience contributing to product strategy and roadmaps.
- Experience evaluating external partnerships, integrations, and licensing opportunities.
- Ability to support beta/pilot programs and assess competing products and technologies.
Java & Enterprise Technology
- 10+ years of demonstrated Java development experience.
- 5+ years of experience with WebSphere 8.5 or higher.
- Experience with Eclipse, IBM Rational Application Developer (RAD), or IBM Rational Software Architect (RSA).
- Experience with Hibernate/JPA.
- Strong object-oriented programming and enterprise application development experience.
- Experience with application design, coding, testing, debugging, deployment, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with relational and hierarchical databases and query languages.
- Knowledge of middleware, gateways, communications protocols, and Internet-ready applications.
Additional Skills
- Experience with structured software development methodologies and RAD methodologies.
- Knowledge of AODA and related accessibility standards.
- Knowledge of Information Management principles and practices.
- Experience reviewing and modifying installation scripts, including testing and debugging.
- Ability to provide user, system, and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines.
