Original job description

Publicis is an omni-channel communications agency with over 600 employees across our Canadian operations. The office is the largest in our industry in Canada and boasts talent across various disciplines of marketing and advertising expertise. Publicis carries a balanced split of Canadian, U.S. and Global clients for which we are Agency of Record. Publicis supports a range of D&I actions through our Driving Change team as well as giving back to the community through a long-standing participation in the Out of the Cold Program. With a strong, active and familial culture, Pub United is the agency’s social club, hosting events as wide reaching as Curling, Trivia Nights and more.

Overview

“It’s just social”. We’ve all heard it. Felt it. And fundamentally, we’ve disagreed with it. Social has quickly

become one of the most complex yet rewarding spaces in all of marketing. And we don’t think it’s slowing down anytime soon. As culture becomes dictated by social, and TikTok becomes the leading entertainment platform, we’re looking for people who can help put our clients in the spotlight, by strategically positioning them at the heart of social conversation, helping grow interactions, and drive community.

As a Senior Content Writer, it’s your responsibility to author original creative concepts that gain our client’s an outsized share of social attention. Through our editorial content planning process, you’ll collaborate with social strategists, community engagement leads, other creatives, and social producers.

Your work will span a mix of proactive & reactive content opportunities – driven by real-time culture. You’ll also have an eye for identifying when a post, trend, or brand moment can become an even bigger opportunity, and you’ll work with our creative directors to help bring brand acts and stunts to life, when possible.

As a steward of our client’s brands, you’ll also ensure the integrity of those brands, their tone of voice, and their social objectives are embedded into every brief and opportunity. You’ll be exposed to growth opportunities across digital strategy, community engagement, and fully integrated creative opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Be a creator at heart
  • Lead concepting for social posts & opportunities, with support from social strategists, content

creators, and creative directors.

  • Partner with Social Content Creators & Social Producers to help execute approved concepts,

where required.

  • Craft unique, entertainment-driven content that looks, feels, and sounds organically like the

brand, and accompanying post copy.

  • Proactively look for opportunities for brands to participate in conversations (through comments or video responses).
  • Identify larger creative opportunities (beyond just social posts) and work with Creative Directors to bring them to life.
  • Strategically weigh-in on trends and provide a POV on brand-relevancy and safety.
  • Intake learnings from content reporting to inform a better creative
  • Communicate effectively with clients, internal teams and partners
  • Complete ad-hoc tasks and other duties, as assigned
  • Take feedback in stride – we win together & lose together!
  • Work occasional evenings, weekends, and/or holidays in support of client needs

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years in a creative role (or equivalent)
  • Creative portfolio of content you’ve created on behalf of brands
  • Strong writing background with an ability to communicate thoughts clearly and simply
  • Deep knowledge of social platforms and how to navigate them. You don’t just follow best

practices, you put them to the test

  • Comfort presenting ideas to senior agency and client stakeholders, with an ability to think on

the fly and pivot ideas in real-time.

  • Experience working with key digital platforms, including Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest,

Snapchat, Twitter, etc.

You are an ideal candidate if you:

  • Are curious by nature: you’re interested how things work and why they work that way
  • Have the spiciest take in the room (we want people who think differently than we do)
  • Are creatively driven and think of data as a vehicle to unlocking new opportunities
  • Have strong written and presentation skills
  • Set high quality standards of work for yourself and aim to get every detail right
  • Relentlessly want to improve and grow
  • Have a bias for action

Candidate Education:

  • Creative industries or other related degrees to be considered
