Overview

The HR Generalist serves as a key resource for employees and managers, supporting day-to-day HR operations while providing guidance across employee relations, compliance, performance management, employee programs, and workplace health and safety. This role partners closely with the HR Manager and broader HR team to deliver an effective and positive employee experience.

Responsibilities

Support employee onboarding and offboarding, including facilitating new hire orientation sessions and conducting exit interviews for employees below the Manager/Supervisor level.
Conduct new hire check-ins with employees and managers to assess the onboarding experience and identify areas for support or improvement.
Support the HR Manager with employee relations matters, leave requests, STD/LTD cases, leaves of absence, and maternity/parental leave documentation and communication.
Partner with the HR Manager and Director on performance management and merit cycles, including schedules, timelines, communications, deliverables, and follow-up actions.
Maintain accurate HRIS data and partner with the HR Coordinator to troubleshoot absence management, vacation, and time-off system issues.
Analyze HR data and prepare insights on turnover, retention, engagement survey results, and other key people metrics for HR and leadership review.
Own compliance tracking, including mandatory training, learning and development requests, outstanding requirements, and escalation of compliance risks.
Coordinate recurring HR programs and deliverables, including overtime compliance, DPSP administration, employee engagement, and CSR initiatives.
Manage employee-related date tracking and notifications, including recognition milestones, contract end dates, and fixed-term contract dates.
Prepare and maintain freelancer contracts and related documentation.
Own workplace health and safety activities for assigned client groups, including incident reporting and investigations, WSIB claims, JHSC coordination, and OHSA compliance.

Qualifications

2–4 years of progressive HR experience.
Working knowledge of HR policies, employment standards, and applicable employment legislation.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
