Description
Reporting to the Operations Excellence Manager and based out of the National Hub Ontario, the Lead Hub Operations Excellence Engineer is resposible for driving network strategy, facility planning, and operational excellence initiatives across the network and Hub through engineering-driven optimization, data analytics, and cross-functional project leadership.
Responsibilities
- By leveraging operations, network engineering, transportation and logistics expertise, support and lead the development and management of Purolator’s network strategy and design strategy work
- Employ engineering practices to develop optimum operating profiles
- Develop new or improve current material handling equipment layouts to improve ergonomics, health and safety, capacity and productivity
- Support the development and deployment of the strategic facility road map encompassing new technologies, and future requirements
- Support and lead the short-term to long term strategic network design working with key stakeholders in the first, middle and last mile.
- Work with stakeholder to proactively build network capabilities to support Purolator’s growth offerings.
- Responsible for assessing and designing existing and future network strategic requirements to drive transformation in service levels, operational efficiencies and continuous improvement.
- Lead a team of Field Engineering Specilaists
- Detailed planning and development of road map and required business case.
- Lead initiatives and projects with cross-functional teams, serving as a change agent, problem solver, team leader & coach
- Improve existing operational processes by employeing engineering practices to support NHO operation to achieve Purolator's KPI target
- Lead and Support deployment of new initiatives and national projects
- Project Management, assist in equipment layout and design, standards development and auditing, process optimization and statistical analysis, used for development of trending and forecast information
- Develop, manage and implement multiple projects providing realistic and accurate timeline, resource requirement and activity plans
- Provide technical training and support to field personnel
- Key initiatives will also include support for the testing and implementation of new technologies, methodologies, and procedures
- Employ standard engineering practices to develop optimum operating profiles for the NHO operations
- Create business cases and project plans to lead improvement efforts
- Gather and analyze data to support Operations
- Translate data findings into problem statement and drives decision making process of appropriate solutions
Education
- Degree in Industrial Engineering/BS degree in Engineering or another related discipline
Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in an engineering discipline
- Minimum of 4-8 years of relevant work experience in a high availability Supply Chain (Transportation/Network/logistic)
- Strong competency with Microsoft Suite, AutoCad, Visio, Process Mapping, and PowerBI
- Lean/Six Sigma training (Green Belt is preferred)
- Experience managing/leading a team
- Ability to effectively implement change and utilize change management principles
- Strong leadership, project and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects in an Agile approach
- Ability to work with a high degree of detail and accuracy constantly meeting deadlines.
- Problem solver and strategic thinker with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently in a fast paced
- Knowledge in SAP applications
- Strong written and oral communication skills with an ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization
Language Requirement: Proficiency in English is required for this position due to the frequent communications that must be conducted in English with various stakeholders. This requirement is justified by the nature of the responsibilities and operational needs.

Hours of Work: Monday-Friday: 9:00AM-5:00PM (Flexibility is required to work evenings, overnights etc. as per operational needs)
