About the Role

We are looking for a highly analytical and commercially minded Business & Data Analyst to support the launch and growth of our consumer lending business in Canada.

This is a key role in building our data and analytics capabilities from the ground up. The successful candidate will initially play a hands-on role in establishing our data, BI and reporting foundation, and will progressively take on broader business analytics across customer acquisition, application and conversion, product performance, operations, customer lifecycle and overall business performance.

The ideal candidate combines a strong quantitative and analytical foundation, hands-on data capabilities, and strong business sense. You should be comfortable working directly with data, building dashboards and reporting solutions from scratch, identifying the drivers behind business performance, and translating analytical findings into actionable business recommendations.

Experience in consumer lending, fintech, banking or other credit-related businesses is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Intelligence & Reporting

Build and develop the company's BI and reporting capabilities from the ground up.
Develop and maintain dashboards and recurring reports covering key business and operational metrics.
Establish and maintain a consistent KPI framework and business performance reporting structure.
Extract, consolidate and transform data from multiple sources to support business reporting.
Automate recurring reporting processes and continuously improve reporting efficiency and accuracy.
Work closely with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate them into practical data solutions.
Ensure the accuracy, consistency and reliability of key management reports and dashboards.

2. Data Management & Analytics

Use SQL and other analytical tools to extract, clean, transform and analyze data from multiple sources.
Build reliable datasets and analytical tables to support reporting and business analysis.
Conduct data quality checks and identify data gaps, inconsistencies and anomalies.
Develop a strong understanding of data structures, business definitions and relationships across key systems.
Work with Technology and other cross-functional teams to improve data availability, quality and usability.
Support the development of data processes and analytical infrastructure as the business grows.

3. Business Performance Analytics

Analyze end-to-end business performance across customer acquisition, applications, conversion, funding, repayment and operations.
Monitor key business metrics and identify trends, anomalies and opportunities.
Analyze acquisition channels and marketing campaigns to understand customer acquisition and conversion performance.
Analyze the application funnel and identify key customer drop-off points and conversion drivers.
Conduct cohort, segmentation and trend analysis to understand changes in business performance over time.
Analyze loan origination, loan volume, average loan size, revenue and other key business metrics.
Conduct root-cause analysis and translate findings into actionable business recommendations.

4. Product & Customer Analytics

Analyze customer behavior and performance across the customer journey, from acquisition and application through funding and repayment.
Analyze product performance, customer segments, conversion rates and customer behavior.
Identify opportunities to improve customer acquisition, application experience and product conversion.
Support Product and Business teams with data-driven analysis for new products, features, processes and initiatives.
Conduct customer segmentation, cohort analysis and other analytical exercises to identify customer trends and business opportunities.
Support A/B testing and other data-driven initiatives where appropriate.

5. Business Decision Support

Partner closely with Business, Product, Marketing, Operations, Finance and Technology teams to support data-driven decision making.
Translate complex data and analytical findings into clear business insights and actionable recommendations.
Provide ad-hoc analysis to support strategic and operational business decisions.
Proactively identify emerging business trends, operational issues and opportunities through data analysis.
Prepare analytical materials and insights for management discussions and business reviews.
Go beyond reporting what happened to understand why it happened, what it means for the business, and what actions should be taken next.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or above in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or another quantitative discipline.
3–5 years of relevant experience in business analytics, data analytics, BI, product analytics, marketing analytics or a related analytical role.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to work with complex datasets and conduct structured analysis.
Strong hands-on experience with SQL and data extraction, transformation and analysis.
Experience building dashboards and reporting solutions using Power BI, Tableau or similar BI tools.
Strong Excel skills and experience with data manipulation and analysis.
Strong understanding of data cleaning, data transformation and data quality management.
Demonstrated ability to translate data into meaningful business insights and actionable recommendations.
Strong business acumen, with the ability to understand the business context behind the numbers and identify the underlying drivers of business performance.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Comfortable working independently and taking ownership in a fast-paced, evolving business environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in consumer lending, fintech, banking or other credit-related businesses.
Experience analyzing lending or financial services data.
Experience with customer acquisition, marketing analytics, product analytics or application funnel analysis.
Experience with loan origination, customer lifecycle or repayment data.
Experience with Python, R, SAS or other analytical programming languages.
Experience with data modeling, ETL or modern data platforms.
Experience with A/B testing, cohort analysis or customer segmentation.
Experience building BI and analytics capabilities in a new or rapidly growing business.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is strong with numbers, comfortable with data, and genuinely interested in the business.

The ideal candidate is not simply a reporting analyst who tells us what happened. You should be able to look at the data and ask:

Why did application or conversion rates change?
Which acquisition channels are performing best, and why?
Where are customers dropping off in the application journey?
Which customer segments or products are performing differently?
What operational issues are affecting customer experience or business performance?
What opportunities can we identify from the data?
What should the business do differently based on the analysis?

You will have the opportunity to play a key role in building the data-driven foundation of a new Canadian consumer lending business from 0 to 1, while working closely with senior management and multiple business functions.
