Job Description:

Shape the software foundation behind the next generation of intelligent, sensor-driven systems.

At QNX, our Sensor Framework team is developing a high-performance, scalable framework that enables applications to interact seamlessly with cameras and other sensors on QNX-based systems. Providing robust C/C++ APIs for technologies including cameras, LiDAR, radar and GPS/IMU, the framework supports sophisticated applications across Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), robotics and medical devices.

We’re looking for an accomplished Senior Embedded Software Developer who thrives on solving complex, low-level engineering challenges and wants to take significant technical ownership within a sophisticated embedded environment.

This is an opportunity to work where embedded software, advanced silicon and sensor technology converge. You’ll tackle challenging engineering problems that require you to get close to both the hardware and software, while contributing to technology that can enable sophisticated systems across automotive, robotics and medical applications.

If you’re a senior embedded developer who enjoys solving the hard problems, influencing technical direction and building robust software for complex real-world systems, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

As a senior member of the team, you’ll contribute to the design and evolution of the Sensor Framework, tackling complex integration challenges and helping deliver scalable, high-performance solutions across new sensors and hardware platforms.

You will:

  • Design, develop and maintain high-performance embedded software in C and C++.
  • Lead complex integrations for new sensors including cameras, LiDAR, radar and GPS/IMU.
  • Enable and integrate new Image Signal Processors (ISPs) and serializer/deserializer (SerDes) technologies.
  • Drive the porting and adaptation of the framework to new hardware platforms and SoCs.
  • Design and evolve framework APIs, architecture and features with performance, scalability and robustness in mind.
  • Investigate complex system-level issues, perform root-cause analysis and drive problems through to resolution.
  • Develop and enhance sample applications and reference implementations.
  • Apply strong software engineering practices including static analysis and unit testing.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware vendors and internal engineering teams to solve integration challenges.
  • Share technical expertise and contribute to engineering discussions, design decisions and overall software quality.

What You’ll Bring

You’ll have deep embedded software expertise and be comfortable moving between application-level requirements and the low-level behaviour of the underlying system.

We're looking for:

  • Strong expertise in embedded software development.
  • Advanced programming skills in C and C++.
  • Deep understanding of low-level systems programming, including memory management, interrupts, DMA and concurrency.
  • Hands-on experience with device driver development.
  • Strong understanding of hardware/software interactions and system-level debugging.
  • Experience with static analysis and unit test development.
  • The ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across multiple layers of the software stack.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working across engineering disciplines and with external technology partners.

Great to have

Additional experience in any of these areas would be valuable:

  • QNX, Linux or Android based systems.
  • Computer vision, image processing or graphics pipelines.
  • Safety-critical software and standards such as ISO 26262.
  • Virtualization and hypervisor-based environments.
  • Sensor integration, camera systems or related embedded technologies.

Ready for your next embedded engineering challenge? Apply and help us build the foundations for the next generation of sensor-driven systems.
