Original job description

Identifying and converting new business opportunities, building strong and lasting client relationships, and contributing directly to revenue growth. The role combines proactive outbound sales, strategic M&A outreach, and cross-departmental collaboration to ensure successful customer acquisition and onboarding.

This is a high-impact individual contributor role suited to a commercially driven professional who thrives on prospecting, relationship-building, and closing - with the ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles from first contact to signed contract. The role includes flexible and partially remote working, so self-direction and disciplined communication are core to success, not optional extras.

Please submit your resume AND motivation letter together here or to jobs@qps.nl.

Key Responsibilities

New Business Development

Identify, research, and qualify new-name business leads across target verticals and geographies.
Conduct cold calling and proactive outreach to generate new business opportunities.
Conduct structured discovery calls, meaningful dialog, and executive-level presentations.
Lead negotiations and close deals, managing commercial terms in line with company policy.
Maintain an accurate and up-to-date pipeline in the CRM and other company systems, ensuring data integrity and forecast reliability.
Meet team and individual goals on performance targets

M&A Outreach & Pipeline

Initiate and maintain proactive outreach to identify M&A targets in alignment with company acquisition criteria.
Build and manage a long-term M&A prospect pipeline by engaging with software company owners and senior executives.
Maintain meaningful, ongoing dialogue with M&A prospects, nurturing relationships over extended timelines.
Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and conferences to expand the prospect network.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

Collaborate with internal teams (Product, Technical Support, Development and Customer Success, and Sales) to support seamless onboarding of newly or already landed clients.
Document all meetings, interactions, and follow-up actions in the CRM and related systems promptly and accurately.
Build trust-based relationships with decision-makers at all levels within the organizations and reseller network.
Communicate the value of reliability, compliance, and uptime as part of the company's sales proposition.

Collaboration & Reporting

Work closely with the Sales & Marketing team to align outreach efforts with broader commercial strategy.
Provide regular pipeline and forecast updates to the line manager, flagging risks and opportunities.
Share market intelligence and prospect feedback with relevant internal stakeholders.

Communication & Transparency Standards

Clear and proactive communication is a core job requirement, not a soft preference.

Management visibility at every stage: line manager and internal stakeholders should always have a current, accurate picture of where each opportunity stands - no deal, prospect, or M&A relationship should be a surprise in a forecast review.
Proactive, not reactive, updates: flag risks, delays, or changes in a deal's status as they emerge, rather than waiting to be asked.
Full transparency with customers and leads: every commitment, timeline, and next step communicated to a prospect or client must be clear, accurate, and consistently documented - nothing verbal-only or left ambiguous.
CRM as the single source of truth: all meetings, interactions, and follow-ups logged promptly so that pipeline and forecast data remain reliable without needing to chase the rep for status.

What We're Looking For

We prioritize traits that predict success over tenure, degrees, or industry pedigree. Ideal candidates demonstrate:

Resilience and initiative: pushes through setbacks, creates opportunities, and keeps moving without a perfect playbook.
Relationship-building mindset: maintains long-term professional trust, especially through extended nurture cycles.
Adaptability and self-direction: succeeds across backgrounds and experience levels, working independently with minimal oversight.
Fluent, professional English communicator, both written and verbal.
A genuine passion for the Marine/Maritime sector.
Legally able to work in Canada and the USA, with the ability to obtain relevant security clearance and travel internationally as required.
Experience with Artificial Intelligence Large Language Models

What We Offer

Development through learning on the job, coaching, and negotiation training.
A truly international working environment with exposure to diverse markets, cultures, and maritime market segment industries.
Competitive salary and incentives and performance bonus schemes.
Paid Leave days.
Company laptop and phone.
Vibrant team culture.
Career growth opportunities in a company that promotes from within.

Selection Process

Initial screening interview (Senior Management)
Competency-based interview with HR and team members
Potential business case or role-play exercise
Final interview with other senior leadership

Interested?

Please submit your resume AND motivation letter together here or to jobs@qps.nl.

Submissions without a motivation letter will not be considered.
