Role Overview

At Qualcomm Canada, our Applications Engineering - Post Silicon Team is looking for hardware and firmware engineering interested in working on the leading edge SERDES technology. The intern will work on a wide range of complex engineering features such as DSPs, PLLs, Drivers, ADCs and so on. The candidate will get to hone their skills in areas of SERDES architecture, DSP systems, firmware programming in C and Python. There will also be hands-on experience with state-of-art test equipment for sub-terahertz applications. 

Responsibilities may include:

Validation and Verification of hardware IP across voltage and temperature constraints

Streamlining test infrastructure for subblocks such as ADCs, PLL, 100G/200G Receivers and Transmitters

Tuning firmware in C/C++/Python environments
Designing tests for next generation PCIe Gen7 and 200G/400G Ethernet hardware

Writing documentation that will be used by design teams across the company

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Electrical/Electronic engineering
Experience with test equipment (Oscilloscope, Power Supplies, Function Generators)
General understand or experience with handling sensitive electronics (ESD guidelines, safety protocols with high voltage testing, grounding, etc)

Programming and Compiling in C and C++
Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Perl, TCL, Shell)

Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills

Education Requirements:

In study towards a bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or related field
For 16-month internships: must be available May/June 2027 - August/September 2028
Expected graduation date of November 2028 or later.
1+ years of academic experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Python, etc

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$54,600.00 - $103,350.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
