Role Overview

At Qualcomm Canada, our Soft IP team is looking for ASIC engineering interns interested in developing world-class technologies. Working in a team of experienced engineers, the intern will contribute to design and verification of ASIC IP blocks and sub-systems. Through hands-on experience, you will learn a wide range of hardware design and verification techniques that provide insight into the ever-evolving semiconductor industry.

Work within a team of engineers to deliver standards-compliant IP blocks for use in Ethernet / UALink (Ultra Accelerator Link) / UEC (Ultra Ethernet Consortium) / ESUN (Ethernet for Scale-Up Networking) / CXL / PCIE FPGAs or ASICs
Develop and document the verification environment using SystemVerilog and UVM
Develop and document the design using Verilog
Develop and execute individual testcases against the RTL
Issue and track bug reports from inception to closure
Develop scripts to augment development process

Minimum Qualifications

Experience with Python, Perl, TCL, Unix/Linux Shell scripting
Experience with source code revisioning systems, e.g. SVN, CVS, RCS
Ability to independently execute on a project while working well with others in the group

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Digital logic / Digital design
Programming in Verilog/VHDL
Relevant industry experience (internship, summer work, etc.)
Experience with debugging tools
Understanding of ASIC/FPGA flows
Excellent communication skills
Able to listen to and appreciate ideas and opinions that differ from yours
Extremely detail oriented
Superb analytical and problem-solving skills
Drives for consistency
Takes personal pride in high standard of outputs

Education Requirements:

In study towards a bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or related field
For 16-month internships: must be available May/June 2027 - August/September 2028
For 12-month internships: must be available May/June 2027 - May/June 2028
Expected graduation date of November 2028 or later.
1+ years of academic experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Python, etc

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
