Position Overview

Power your future with Qualus in our Grid Engineering Canada business as our Manager, Project Management. Reporting to the Director of Integrated Delivery, this role directly leads a team of Project Managers and is accountable for building project-management capability, assigning resources, maintaining consistent delivery practices, and supporting successful project execution across the business.

The Manager of Project Management promotes a high-performance culture through coaching, performance management, workforce planning, and continuous improvement. The role partners with Program Managers, team leads and functional leaders to provide qualified resources, strengthen governance, resolve delivery constraints, and ensure Project Managers apply consistent controls for safety, quality, schedule, cost, risk, and client service.

Responsibilities

Leadership and People Management

Directly manage, mentor, onboard, and develop a team of Project Managers.
Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular coaching, performance reviews, and career development planning.
Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, safety, quality, and professional growth.
Lead recruitment, onboarding, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives for the project-management team.

Resource and Capacity Management

Plan project-management capacity and assign Project Managers based on workload, capability, project complexity, and business priorities.
Partner with Program Managers and functional leaders to forecast demand, address resource gaps, and resolve allocation conflicts.
Monitor team utilization and maintain appropriate staffing levels for current and anticipated work.
Support orderly transitions when Project Managers are assigned to, or released from, projects and programs.

Project Management Standards and Assurance

Develop, implement, and maintain project-management governance, methodologies, tools, templates, and reporting standards.
Coach Project Managers in planning, scheduling, cost control, change management, risk management, contract administration, and client communication.
Conduct project health checks and management reviews to verify that controls are applied consistently and effectively.
Escalate systemic delivery risks and work with accountable leaders to implement corrective actions.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Delivery Support

Serve as the functional leader for Project Managers and a senior escalation point for people, capability, and resource matters.
Collaborate with Program Managers, technical leaders, operations, finance, and clients to address delivery constraints and improve execution.
Participate in project and portfolio reviews where management support or intervention is required.
Support business development and proposal activities by identifying appropriate project-management resources and delivery approaches.

Continuous Improvement

Analyze delivery trends and lessons learned to improve project-management capability, efficiency, and consistency.
Lead training, knowledge-sharing, and maturity initiatives for the project-management community.
Promote standardization while enabling fit-for-purpose approaches based on project size, risk, and complexity.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field.
Project Management Professional (PMP) designation considered an asset.
Minimum of 15 years of engineering, project management, and/or operations experience on transmission, substation, or distribution projects, including at least 5 years in progressively responsible people-leadership roles.
Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing Project Managers.
Strong knowledge of project-management governance, controls, resource planning, and delivery assurance.
Excellent leadership, written and verbal communication, conflict resolution, time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to analyze delivery trends, identify systemic issues, and implement practical improvements.
Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, accountability, collaboration, and professional integrity.
