Senior Systems Engineer (Linux / Ansible / Nutanix)

Position: Senior Systems Engineer
Location: Downtown Toronto, ON
Salary: $85-$90 per hour
Job Type: 6-month contract

Working Model: Hybrid - 1-2 days onsite per week

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with deep Linux infrastructure expertise and strong DevOps automation experience to support major enterprise infrastructure modernization initiatives.

This hands-on role focuses on Linux administration, infrastructure automation, and large-scale migrations, including Nutanix infrastructure upgrades and Solaris-to-RHEL modernization.

Responsibilities:

- Administer and support enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
- Develop Ansible playbooks and automate provisioning, patching, and configuration management.
- Support infrastructure migrations, including VMware ESXi to Nutanix AHV and Solaris to RHEL.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and production issues.
- Support cloud technologies, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and security compliance.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Qualifications:

- 8-10+ years of Linux systems engineering experience.
- Expert-level RHEL administration skills.
- Strong Ansible automation and Bash/KSH scripting experience.
- Experience with enterprise infrastructure, patching, and lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with Nutanix AHV, VMware ESXi, Azure, and CI/CD tools.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in enterprise environments.
- Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Solaris migrations is an asset.
