Original job description

We are seeking a highly skilled engineer to design, build, and maintain our internal developer platform. In this role, you will be responsible for automating infrastructure, building seamless data integrations, and enabling developer self-service capabilities.

Technical Qualifications & Core Responsibilities

1. Data Mapping & Transformation

  • Advanced JQ Mastery: You must possess strong proficiency in JQ to efficiently manipulate data payloads.
  • Configuration & Selection: Write and manage filter logic inside config.yaml or port-app-config.yml files.
  • API Ingestion: Extract precise data paths (such as .data.users) from external API responses and accurately map these fields into Port entity properties.

2. Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)

  • Terraform Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with Terraform to manage our portal architecture entirely as code.
  • Resource Provisioning: Author .tf files to explicitly define and configure port_blueprint, port_entity, and port_action resources utilizing the standard port-labs/port-labs provider.
  • Alternative Paradigms: Proficiency in using Pulumi (Python or TypeScript) as an alternative method for resource definition is highly acceptable.

3. Integration Framework (Ocean)

  • Ocean Framework Architecture: A deep conceptual and practical understanding of the Ocean integration ecosystem.
  • Python Runtime: Work comfortably within a Python 3.11 environment designed to synchronize data from external third-party systems.
  • Lifecycle & Customization: Build out structured config.yaml files, manage the end-to-end integration lifecycle, and modify or contribute to main.py code logic to support proprietary or custom internal systems.

4. CI/CD & Orchestration

  • GitHub Actions Engineering: Deep operational experience constructing automated backend workflows to power internal developer self-service actions.
  • Workflow Automation: Author production-ready YAML workflows triggered via workflow_dispatch mechanisms.
  • Secret & Context Management: Securely handle authentication and Port execution context by injecting repository secrets including PORT_CLIENT_ID and PORT_CLIENT_SECRET.
