Required
- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current CPR or BCLS certificate.
- Completed Post Graduate Operating Room Certificate.
- Completed Critical Care course
- Minimum of 2 years of RN operating room experience in the last 6 years.
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience as an RN supporting post anaesthesia or critical care patients within the past 6 years.
- Must have demonstrated ability to work independently and have strong organizational skills.
- Must have satisfactory work performance and attendance in present position.
- Medical Surveillance is required for personnel routinely working with mechanical equipment and the class of lasers used in the OR. A hearing test and eye exam must be arranged.
- Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload. (Physical Demands Analysis PDA available to review).
- Must have a satisfactory Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Check.
Duties
- Utilizes the Nursing Process in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
- Provides preoperative teaching to patients & families as required.
- Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills and judgment in assessing health needs and in planning, administering and evaluating patient care in the clinic environment (circulating/scrub/laser nurse roles).
- Responsible to work collaboratively with other members of the health care team who contribute to the provision of patient care.
- Maintains nursing records.
- Participates in QI programs to ensure a high level of patient care.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Required Frequently – standing and walking on hard surfaces, bending/stooping.

- Required Rarely – balancing, climbing.
Dexterity
- Required Frequently – object handling, gripping/grasping, eye/hand co-ordination, neck, elbow, shoulder, wrist and back normal range of motion.
