Technology Project Manager
The Technology Project Manager is responsible for the planning and delivery of technology projects across the Tomlinson Group of Companies. Reporting to the Senior Technology Project Manager, this role is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of assigned projects - from requirements definition and planning through execution, implementation, adoption and closeout.
Projects will span all aspects of technology including infrastructure, cybersecurity, business applications, ERP, data and analytics, and emerging technology. The role works closely with Technology Managers (IT, ERP, AI), technical teams, business stakeholders and vendors, and applies the standards, templates and governance of the Tomlinson Technology Project Management Program.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Planning and Delivery
- Facilitate requirements gathering and translate business needs into project scope, objectives and deliverables and success criteria
- Ensure project objectives align with business priorities, portfolio goals and the technology roadmap before work commences.
- Prepare Project charters, business case inputs, cost estimates and approval documentation.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, resource plans, risk registers and project documentation.
- Manage multiple technology projects through the full lifecycle, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Coordinate internal teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and implementation partners to execute project activities and achieve milestones.
- Manage scope, change requests, testing, training, deployment, transition to support, and project closeout activities.
- Ensure project objectives align with business priorities, portfolio goals and the technology roadmap before work commences.
- Assign, sequence and oversee project tasks, ensuring team members and vendors are actively progressing toward committed milestones.
- Manage scope and change control, assessing the impact of requested changes on schedule, cost, resources and risk, and obtaining appropriate approvals.
- Plan and coordinate testing activities, including integration testing and user acceptance testing, along with training, cutover, go-live and transition to support.
Stakeholder Management and Communication
- Partner closely with business stakeholders, solution owners, technology teams, and vendors to understand business needs, align priorities, resolve challenges, and ensure successful project delivery.
- Lead project meetings, communicate status, track decisions and actions, and proactively manage stakeholder expectations.
- Escalate risks, issues, resource constraints, and decisions requiring broader portfolio, budget, or organizational alignment to the Senior Technology Project Manager, along with recommended options and mitigation strategies.
Risk Management
- Identify, assess, manage project risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies and mitigation strategies.
- Establish contingency plans, identify trigger events, and assign responsibility for mitigating action.
- Escalate risks and issues that exceed project-level tolerance or require decisions beyond the project team.
- Support budget planning, forecasting, and financial tracking for assigned projects.
- Coordinate vendor performance, timelines, and deliverables on assigned projects, escalating performance concerns as required.
- Monitor and report on project budgets, forecasts, commitments and actual spend. Identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- PMP certification (Project Management Institute) is preferred; candidates actively pursuing PMP will be considered.
- Change management (Prosci or equivalent), ITIL 4, agile or SAP Activate credentials are considered assets.
- 3+ years of project management delivering technology initiatives of increasing size and complexities, with a proven track record of successful delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects across both infrastructure and application domains.
- Experience coordinating internal teams and external vendors through the full project lifecycle.
- Understanding of software and data product delivery lifecycles, including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, adoption, and support.
- Experience with project budgeting, forecasting and financial tracking.
- Experience in construction, heavy civil, manufacturing, environmental services, logistics or a comparable operational industry is an asset.
- Exposure to ERP, technology infrastructure, cybersecurity, data and analytics, or field technology projects is an asset.

- Strong systems thinker who connects detailed project execution with broader portfolio priorities, dependencies, and outcomes. Demonstrates a field-first mindset, balancing business and technology objectives with the practical realities of frontline operations and end-user adoption.
- Demonstrates sound judgment regarding when to act independently and when to engage the Senior Technology Project Manager to address project, resource, or portfolio-level concerns.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Primarily a standard office environment based in Ottawa, Ontario.
- Travel between Tomlinson offices, operating locations and project sites within Eastern Ontario is required on a regular basis; occasional travel further afield may be required.
- Site visits require compliance with Tomlinson health and safety requirements, including the use of personal protective equipment.
- Occasional evening or weekend work is required to support implementations, cutovers and maintenance windows.

COMPENSATION:
Expected salary range: 85,000 to $110,000 annually. Placement within the range is dependent upon a variety of factors including qualifications and experience.
