Raise is currently hiring a Development Manager-Java Microservices on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client is a technology company that combines decades of industry expertise with next-generation AI technology that helps organizations reinvent how they build, operate and deliver by pairing human ingenuity with agentic systems that scale intelligence across the enterprise.

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description

As a Manager Technology, you will lead and manage Java Microservices-based engineering teams, ensuring the successful delivery of scalable, high-performance solutions. You will work closely with clients, product managers, and cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy enterprise-grade applications that drive business value

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor Java engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
Architect, design, and develop Java-based microservices solutions that align with business and technical requirements.
Ensure the scalability, performance, and security of microservices-based applications.
Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define and prioritize technical requirements.
Drive best practices in Agile development, CI/CD, and DevOps to accelerate software delivery.
Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the success of engineering initiatives.
Stay updated on emerging Java and microservices trends, tools, and frameworks to drive continuous improvement.
Foster a customer-centric approach, ensuring that technology solutions meet business objectives and user needs.

Qualifications

8+ years of experience in Java development, with a strong focus on microservices architecture.
Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams in an Agile environment.
Expertise in Java frameworks such as Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Hibernate.
Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and cloud-native architectures.
Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps best practices.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to drive technical decisions.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work in a client-facing role.
Set Yourself Apart With
Experience in domain-driven design (DDD) and event-driven architectures.
Knowledge of API gateways, service mesh, and distributed tracing tools.
Certifications in Java, Spring, or cloud platforms.
Experience in financial services, e-commerce, or other enterprise environments.
Education and Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical work experience).
Java / Spring Certifications:

Oracle Certified Professional: Java SE (Developer)
Spring Professional Certification (Spring Boot/Cloud)

Cloud Platform Certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP):

AWS Certified Solutions Architect / Developer
Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect / Developer
Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert

Methodology & Architecture Frameworks:

TOGAF (for enterprise architecture context)
Scrum Alliance Certifications (CSM or CSP for Agile leadership)
Domain-Driven Design (DDD) formal workshop or professional training credentials
