Professional - Business Analyst - Senior

Location: Toronto, ON - Hybrid (1day onsite)
Pay Rate: $67.41/hr - $77.92/hr
Contract Length: 6 Months with possibility for extension

Responsibilities

Product and Trade Lifecycle: Drive initiatives to build and enhance platforms for OTC derivatives, supporting trade capture, lifecycle management, and end-to-end processing across multiple asset classes.
Requirements and Analysis: Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements, create data mappings, interface specifications, and acceptance criteria. Author high-quality BRDs/FRDs or user stories and ensure traceability from requirements through delivery.
Solution Design Support: Collaborate with product owners, architects, and developers to evaluate solution options, validate technical feasibility, and refine non-functional requirements such as data quality, performance, and operational resilience.
Data and APIs: Perform data analysis using SQL, contribute to API specifications (REST/JSON), and support integration efforts with internal and external platforms.
Testing and Delivery: Support UAT planning and execution, troubleshoot defects and production issues, and facilitate release readiness and post-implementation validation with robust testing and operational controls.
Collaboration and Communication: Build strong partnerships with Trading, Risk, Operations, Compliance, and QA teams. Effectively communicate complex concepts to diverse stakeholders, ensuring alignment on scope, priorities, and timelines.

Must-Have Requirements

4-5 years as a Business Systems Analyst in Capital Markets
Experience with OTC derivatives and trade lifecycle.
Basic coding knowledge, with the ability to read and understand code, even with AI assistance
Ability to work effectively with both business stakeholders and developers in a large team environment.
Understand FX, IR, and EQ options and swaps, including their definitions, valuation, and lifecycle events.
Ability to translate business requirements into clear technical requirements, with a basic understanding of data workflows and coding.
Strong SQL and Excel skills
Data mapping and transformation validation experience
Requirements gathering (User Stories, BRDs, FRDs)
UAT support, test scenarios, and acceptance criteria
Production issue analysis and impact assessment
Strong stakeholder communication and collaboration
Financial institutional experience and capital markets

Nice-to-Have Requirements

FpML, FIX, REST APIs, and JSON knowledge
Python for data analysis
Experience with Murex or Calypso
Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools
Agile (Scrum/Kanban), Jira, and Confluence
Regulatory reporting knowledge (Dodd-Frank, EMIR, MiFID II, UMR, DTCC)
