Senior Business Process Design & Project Manager on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our client is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Senior Business Process Design & Project Manager leads complex process improvement and transformation initiatives from problem definition through implementation and benefits realization. The role combines deep expertise in end-to-end business process design with intermediate-to-senior project management capability. Working across business and enabling functions, the position diagnoses operational challenges, designs practical future-state processes, establishes governance and controls, and manages the people, scope, schedule, budget, risks, dependencies, and change activities required to deliver sustainable outcomes
Responsibilities
- Business Process Design & Improvement
- Lead discovery and current-state assessments using interviews, workshops, data analysis, observation, and process mapping.
- Design customer-focused, end-to-end future-state processes that clarify roles, decision rights, handoffs, controls, service levels, and performance measures.
- Apply process design methods such as Lean, value-stream mapping, root-cause analysis, service blueprinting, and continuous improvement.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate, digitize, or eliminate low-value activities.
- Translate business needs into process requirements, operating procedures, business rules, controls, and functional requirements.
- Facilitate cross-functional design sessions, resolve competing requirements, and build agreement on practical solutions.
- Establish process ownership, governance, documentation standards, and mechanisms for ongoing performance management.
- Define baselines, expected benefits, key performance indicators, and post-implementation review measures.
- Project Management & Delivery
- Lead medium-to-large or complex initiatives through initiation, planning, execution, implementation, and closeout.
- Develop fit-for-purpose charters, integrated plans, schedules, budgets, resource forecasts, governance routines, and status reporting.
- Manage scope, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions, changes, vendors, and quality.
- Provide clear, concise reporting and recommendations to sponsors, steering committees, and senior leaders.
- Coordinate business, technology, procurement, legal, risk, and external delivery partners as required.
- Apply appropriate delivery approaches, including predictive, agile, hybrid, and progressive elaboration.
- Plan implementation readiness, transition activities, training, communications, adoption, and operational handover.
- Track outcomes and benefits, address performance gaps, and capture lessons learned for future initiatives.
- Stakeholder & Change Leadership
- Build trusted relationships with process owners, subject-matter experts, project teams, and leaders at all levels.
- Make complex business problems understandable through clear process visuals, decision materials, and executive-level communication.
- Assess stakeholder impacts and adoption risks, and integrate change management activities into delivery plans.
- Coach team members and business partners in process thinking, structured problem solving, and disciplined project delivery.
- Constructively challenge assumptions while maintaining momentum, accountability, and stakeholder commitment.
Qualifications
- 8 or more years of progressive experience in business process design, operational improvement, transformation, or a related field.
- 4 years of experience managing cross-functional projects of moderate-to-high complexity, including responsibility for integrated planning, governance, risk, and stakeholder reporting.
- Demonstrated experience mapping and redesigning end-to-end processes and implementing measurable improvements.
- Strong workshop facilitation, requirements elicitation, problem-solving, business analysis, and executive communication capabilities.
- Experience developing business cases, options analyses, implementation roadmaps, performance measures, and benefits-realization plans.
- Proficiency with process-mapping, collaboration, project-scheduling, reporting, and presentation tools.
- Nice-to-haves
- Experience supporting technology-enabled transformation, workflow automation, enterprise systems, or operating-model change.
- Experience in a regulated, complex, or multi-stakeholder environment.
- Education and Certifications
- Post-secondary degree in business, operations, engineering, information systems, or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Nice to have certifications
- Project management certification such as PMP or equivalent.
- Lean Six Sigma, business process management, business analysis, change management, or agile certification.
