What project will this contractor be working on?
The candidate will support the existing Payment Hub Foreign Exchange legacy application. This role is focused on regular application development and maintenance work and is not part of the separate cloud transformation initiative. The application is entirely backend-facing rather than customer-facing.

Job Description:
The Senior Applications Developer will provide hands-on backend development and technical leadership for a legacy Capital Markets payment application. The successful candidate will be responsible for understanding the existing system, developing and maintaining Golang-based application components, supporting testing activities, and driving deliverables through production deployment.
The role requires a strong individual contributor who can independently own smaller projects or initiatives while also providing technical direction, mentorship, and development guidance to the broader team. The candidate should demonstrate strong ownership and be comfortable working across the complete software delivery lifecycle rather than focusing exclusively on coding activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain backend applications using Go (Golang)
- Take ownership of development deliverables from requirements analysis through testing and production deployment.
- Understand the existing application architecture, business domain, dependencies, and supporting systems.
- Provide hands-on support throughout development, integration testing, user acceptance testing, implementation, and production release activities.
- Independently lead smaller projects or application initiatives.
- Provide technical direction, mentorship, and development guidance to team members.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive unit test suites using Test-Driven Development practices.
- Apply clean code principles and established software development best practices.
- Promote consistent coding, testing, and quality standards across the development team.
- Use static code analysis and security scanning tools to identify and address code quality, security, and vulnerability concerns.
- Collaborate with development, testing, security, and delivery stakeholders.
- Demonstrate awareness of and interest in AI-assisted and AI-driven software development tools and practices.
Must Have Requirement:
6-8 years of overall software development experience.
Minimum two to three years of hands-on Go (Golang) development experience.
Strong backend application development experience.
Experience providing technical direction, mentorship, or guidance to development team members.
Strong working knowledge of Test-Driven Development.
Experience writing and maintaining comprehensive unit test suites.
Experience with static code analysis and security or vulnerability scanning tools, including Snyk and SonarQube.
Nice to Have:
Awareness of and genuine interest in AI-assisted or AI-driven development tools and practices Exposure to payment applications, foreign exchange platforms, or Capital Markets technology environments would be beneficial but is not mandatory
