Responsibilities

Job Overview:

  • We are seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Digital Communications Specialist to lead the business and content transformation of our corporate website ecosystem. This role is not focused on coding, infrastructure management, or technical system configuration. Instead, it will serve as the communications and business lead for a major website transformation initiative, overseeing the migration to a headless, AI-enabled Sitecore environment.
  • The successful candidate will ensure that website architecture, content structures, governance frameworks, and publishing workflows effectively support complex corporate narratives, reputation management objectives, marketing priorities, and stakeholder needs. Acting as the bridge between Communications, IT, business stakeholders, and external agencies, this role will champion user experience, content strategy, digital discoverability, and long-term platform adoption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide business leadership across the full project lifecycle, including discovery, requirements gathering, solution design, content migration, testing, launch, and post-implementation adoption. Ensure communication priorities, stakeholder expectations, and business objectives remain aligned throughout the transformation journey.
  • Translate corporate communications objectives, campaign requirements, and public relations priorities into user stories, business requirements, functional specifications, and constructive feedback on wireframes and proposed solutions for the external development agency.
  • Serve as the primary business liaison with external agency partners, ensuring the delivery of flexible, scalable, and modular website components that empower communications teams to create diverse and engaging digital experiences without technical support.
  • Advocate for the internal content authoring experience by ensuring the Sitecore environment provides an intuitive, efficient, and user-friendly publishing interface that minimizes workflow friction and supports content governance best practices.
  • Lead the assessment, rationalization, organization, and migration of website content into the new AI-enabled Sitecore platform. Establish content structures, taxonomies, metadata standards, governance models, and publishing processes that meet both user and business requirements.
  • Coordinate business testing and user acceptance testing (UAT) activities, validating requirements, migrated content, functionality, usability, accessibility, and overall stakeholder expectations before launch.
  • Collaborate closely with IT teams to ensure alignment with security, compliance, and technical standards while advocating for solutions that preserve user experience, content flexibility, and storytelling capabilities.
  • Partner with diverse internal stakeholders and content owners to gather requirements, analyze needs, resolve competing priorities, and align digital solutions with organizational objectives.
  • Develop and execute change management and training initiatives that enable content contributors and business users to confidently adopt new Sitecore capabilities, workflows, and authoring tools.
  • Champion digital findability and content discoverability by incorporating SEO best practices, site search optimization, information architecture principles, metadata strategies, and emerging AI-search considerations into the overall digital experience strategy.
  • Utilize digital analytics, performance insights, and user behavior data to evaluate website effectiveness, support decision-making, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement and optimization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Digital Marketing, Public Relations, Business, Information Management, or a related discipline. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 10-15+ years of experience leading website redesign, migration, or digital transformation projects within large, complex organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience working with enterprise content management systems such as Sitecore, Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), or similar platforms from a business user, product owner, or digital strategy perspective.
  • Proven experience supporting website migration, modernization, digital transformation, or large-scale CMS implementation initiatives.
  • Strong ability to collaborate effectively with IT teams, solution architects, and external development partners while translating business requirements into actionable technical deliverables.
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies, including sprint planning, backlog management, user story development, stakeholder engagement, and user acceptance testing.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, facilitation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to navigate competing priorities and drive consensus across diverse groups.
  • Deep understanding of content strategy, information architecture, content governance, taxonomies, metadata frameworks, and user journey mapping within complex corporate environments.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.2 AA, and commitment to inclusive digital experience design.
  • Understanding of search engine optimization (SEO), site search optimization, content discoverability, and emerging AI-search readiness principles.
  • Experience leveraging digital analytics and performance metrics to assess website effectiveness, support strategic recommendations, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
