Original job description

RAM Excavating Limited is a civil construction company based in Quesnel, BC. We build roads, bridges, municipal and industrial civil works across the BC Interior and northwest. We are staffing an airport civil project in north west BC and need a Superintendent who can take charge of a grade job from day one.

THE JOB: This is subgrade and granular placement on an airport taxiway. It is an active airport with airside escorts, height limits and operational restrictions. The client and the engineer need to see steady progress, clean records and a superintendent they can trust. That is the most important part of this role.

WHAT YOU WILL DO: - Run the site: crew of 9, owned and rented equipment, trucking and aggregate deliveries - Plan and sequence the work around airside access, escorts and aircraft operations - Control grade and quality: read civil drawings and cross sections, work with our grade person on GPS and staking, and direct compaction, moisture conditioning and proof rolls - Be the day-to-day face of RAM with the client and the Owner's engineer. Attend site meetings, get layers inspected and accepted, and raise problems early and in writing - Complete and sign daily time, equipment and work records every shift. This is a time and material job, so accurate records are how we get paid

Lead safety on site: FLHAs, toolbox talks, airside rules and the site safety plan WHAT YOU BRING - 8+ years in heavy civil or earthworks, with at least 3 years as a superintendent or senior foreman on grade and granular work (highways, airports, industrial sites or large subdivisions) - Proven experience running subgrade prep, granular sub-base and base to tight tolerances - Working knowledge of Proctor, nuclear density testing, proof rolling and QC documentation - Comfortable with GPS grade control and digital surfaces - Strong client skills. You stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly and build trust with owners and engineers - Airport or airside experience is a strong asset. MoTI highway experience is an asset - Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean abstract - Current first aid and WHMIS. Ground disturbance training is an asset - Able to pass airport security screening and complete airside orientation SCHEDULE - 10-hour days, 7 days a week, working straight through to completion - Estimated 8 to 10 weeks this fall, starting mid-October 2026, with likely return work in spring 2027 - Crew travel between Quesnel and Terrace is paid

PAY AND BENEFITS $48- $55.00 per hour based on record and experience - Overtime after 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week. Double time after 12 hours and on statutory holidays - Living out allowance of $185 for every day at site, including travel days.
