Business Analyst – Finance | Toronto | 3–6 Month Contract
Location: Downtown Toronto, ON
Duration: 3–6 month contract
Pay Rate: $75–$90 per hour
About the Opportunity:
Our client in the insurance industry is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support finance and reinsurance projects. Working closely with Finance and IT, you will define business requirements, assess financial processes and help shape technology solutions that meet Finance needs.
This opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong accounting foundation who enjoys improving processes, working with financial data and presenting recommendations to senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate workshops and stakeholder interviews to gather, clarify and document financial requirements.
- Translate Finance needs into clear requirements for technical teams.
- Assess financial processes and data across the general ledger, subledgers, reconciliations, allocations and KPIs.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial workflows, reporting accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborate with Finance and IT throughout projects to ensure solutions address business priorities.
- Support user acceptance testing and quality assurance, with attention to financial risks and compliance requirements.
- Present findings, financial impacts and recommendations to stakeholders and executives.
Qualifications:
- CPA or CBAP designation.
- At least eight years of experience in finance business analysis or a comparable role.
- Strong knowledge of the accounting cycle, financial reporting and related processes.
- Experience analyzing financial data, general ledger and subledger activity, reconciliations, allocations and KPIs.
- Background supporting finance transformation, reinsurance or similar initiatives.
- Insurance industry experience and IFRS 17 knowledge are strong assets.
- Strong presentation skills, including the ability to explain financial and technical information clearly to senior leaders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
