Original job description

Are you an ambitious, analytical cost accounting professional or CPA looking for a highly visible role where you can truly optimize manufacturing operations and make a direct bottom-line impact?

Are you looking for a role where you can get into the operational details - mastering standard costing, Bills of Materials (BOMs), variance analysis across 25 active production lines, and inventory valuation - while working directly with plant operations and senior corporate leadership?

Do you want to play a key lead role in an enterprise ERP modernization (transitioning from Microsoft Dynamics AX to JD Edwards) where you can eliminate manual processes and focus on high-value operational insights and cost-saving strategies?

If you are a high-grit, curious problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is eager to take full ownership of cost accounting, this is the opportunity you have been looking for!

We have partnered with a premier, rapidly expanding Food & Beverage manufacturing leader York Region seeking an agile, sharp Cost Accounting Manager to join their finance team. Operating in a flexible hybrid setup (3 days in-office / 2 days remote; 4 days in-office during training), this role offers the perfect balance of hands-on plant exposure and direct collaboration with executive corporate finance leadership.

Whether you are looking to leverage your deep CPG manufacturing expertise or step up into a role with total ownership over product costing and ERP implementation, you will find a collaborative environment eager to invest in your success.

Why Join This Team?

Leadership Partnership & Impact: Report directly to the Corporate Controller while serving as the primary finance partner to local plant leadership, driving cost efficiency and financial accuracy across 25 active production lines.
Competitive Compensation & Benefits: A market-aligned base salary between $120-130K (based on experience), 12% annual performance bonus, 100% company-paid CPA membership dues, comprehensive health/dental benefits, and 3 weeks paid vacation.
Work-Life Balance: A flexible hybrid work schedule (3 days in-office / 2 days WFH) with supportive leadership and reasonable hours outside of peak inventory and financial close periods.
High-Growth & Modernization Environment: Be a central driver in a major enterprise ERP upgrade (AX to JD Edwards) and an ongoing double-shift operational expansion.

What You Will Do & Learn:

Standard Costing & BOM Maintenance: Take full ownership of standard cost models, Bills of Materials (BOMs), labor routings, and overhead allocation methodologies for all manufactured product lines.
Variance Analysis & Operational Insights: Track, analyze, and report on material, labor, yield, waste, and scrap variances across 25 production lines, turning plant metrics into actionable profitability insights.
Inventory Valuation & Controls: Perform multi-category inventory reconciliations (raw materials, packaging, WIP, finished goods) between physical counts, the general ledger, and the ERP system.
ERP Transition & Financial Reporting: Lead costing data integrity during the migration from Microsoft Dynamics AX to JD Edwards, while preparing month-end variance schedules and cost reporting packages.

Who You Are:

CPA designation (completed or actively pursuing the CPA PEP program) paired with a degree in Accounting or Finance.
5+ years of hands-on cost accounting experience within a CPG, Food & Beverage, or high-volume manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated expertise in standard costing, BOM management, inventory controls, and plant variance analysis across complex production setups.
Experience with enterprise ERP systems (JD Edwards or MS Dynamics AX experience is a major asset), supported by advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
Positive, high-grit, and curious communicator comfortable partnering effectively with both shop-floor operations and executive finance leaders.

If you are hungry to take ownership of plant finance, elevate your costing expertise, and work with a supportive leadership team, apply today to start the conversation!
