Role Overview
We are seeking a Data Access Engineering Specialist to join our enterprise client's Identity and Access Management (IAM) organization. In this hands-on role, you will partner directly with technology leaders and the Director of Data Access Management to design, build, test, deploy, and sustain core data access products and governance frameworks. You will play a pivotal role in modernizing enterprise data governance, strengthening data security, and standardizing access controls across complex, multi-platform environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Implementation & Ownership: Lead hands-on design, construction, testing, deployment, and operational support for enterprise Data Access Management products and services.
- Access Control Frameworks: Design, implement, and maintain Role-Based (RBAC), Attribute-Based (ABAC), and Policy-Based (PBAC) access control frameworks tailored to data sensitivity and classification.
- System & Tool Integration: Integrate data access solutions across diverse data sources, including on-premise systems (Mainframes, databases, file shares), SaaS platforms (Salesforce, ServiceNow), and Cloud hyper-scalers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Ecosystem Connectivity: Connect access control systems with Data Catalogs, Data Lakes, Single Sign-On (Active Directory), Privileged Access Management (PAM), SIEM, DLP, and ticketing tools.
- Lifecycle Management: Execute the end-to-end Data Access Management Lifecycle, including data discovery, classification, access certification, remediation, analytics, and reporting.
- Governance & Compliance: Support data governance capabilities such as metadata management, data quality standards, access remediation, and compliance with data protection laws.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional technology teams, lead integration testing, analyze access issue patterns, and deliver progress updates to executive stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Informatics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Core Governance Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Data Access Governance.
- Implementation Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on implementation experience delivering Data Access Governance programs.
- Technical Expertise: Proven track record in data management with strong expertise in RBAC, ABAC, PBAC models, and data access control solutions.
- Tooling Knowledge: Working knowledge of Cloud Data Governance & Catalog tools (such as CDGC, CDMP, CDI), SSO, PAM, SIEM, and DLP solutions.
- Industry Experience: Direct experience within the financial services industry is a strong plus.
- Regulatory Awareness: Solid understanding of data protection, privacy laws, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical problem-solving skills, strong verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and a commitment to strict deadline
Compensation & Logistics
Salary Range: $110K - $120K + 8% Annual Bonus
Location: Hybrid – 3 days/week in-office (London, ON preferred; Toronto, ON or Winnipeg, MB options available).
