About our client

Our client is the leading independent clearing broker and custodian in the Canadian market, providing trade execution, clearing, custody, and back-office support services to Canadian brokerage firms and Canadian arms of U.S. firms. As a privately owned organization with over 35 years of helping Canadian investors build better financial futures, they embrace innovation, transparency, leadership, and collaboration. Consistently recognized as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers, they foster an inclusive, people-centric environment dedicated to long-term career growth and community impact.

Role Overview

This Project Manager position supports multi-year enterprise digital transformation initiatives across critical operational and technological delivery streams. The core mission of the role is to drive software innovation, process automation, and governed compliance while enhancing service scalability in the Canadian financial marketplace. In your first 6 to 12 months, you will make an immediate impact by acting as the primary bridge between business stakeholders and technical execution teams, delivering secure, scalable solutions - ranging from custom Java software to automated workflows and regulatory frameworks.

Main Responsibilities

  • Strategize on delivery approaches and release plans alongside business stakeholders, technical architects, compliance officers, and executive leadership.
  • Perform day-to-day Scrum Master responsibilities for distributed Agile delivery teams, championing Agile values (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, Lean) and modern engineering practices such as CI/CD and test-driven development.
  • Manage project resource allocation, track development sprint velocity, and oversee project financials, ROI, and technical/compliance risk metrics.
  • Lead Business Readiness Planning, secure deployments, and compliant transitions of new digital capabilities to operations.
  • Mitigate technical debt, architecture dependencies, system integration risks, and regulatory compliance risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Engage and manage relationships with external software vendors, prioritizing data privacy, security, and seamless API integration into core internal ecosystems.
  • Present progress updates, technical roadmaps, risk assessments, and automation ROI to senior management, audit committees, and C-level executives.

Must-have required skills and experience

  • Education & Experience: Post-secondary degree (University/College or equivalent work experience) with 3–5 years of Project Management experience in the financial industry, preferably within Capital Markets.
  • Domain Focus: Success managing complex projects in custom enterprise software development (e.g., Java/J2EE, Spring Boot), process automation (e.g., RPA, workflow digitization, AI integration), or regulatory/compliance mandates (e.g., OSFI, CIRO/IIROC guidelines).
  • Agile Expertise: Hands-on experience working in an Agile delivery environment with a strong grasp of frameworks including Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and Lean.
  • Financial Operations Knowledge: Demonstrated domain experience with book of record, operations, and financial controls.
  • Project Governance: Solid experience in project planning, risk management, and structured Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) or highly governed methodologies.

Nice-to-have skills

  • Certifications: Agile/SAFe/Scrum Master Certification, PMP Certification, Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP), or Lean Six Sigma.
  • Technical Integration: Background in backend data processing, API vendor integrations, and technical debt management.
  • Governance Alignment: Proven ability to navigate strict regulatory control frameworks without stifling innovation.

Other important info (Logistics & Compensation)

  • Location/Work Mode: Flexible Hybrid (2 days/week in office). Current office location is in Toronto until late 2026, when it will transition to Mississauga. Current Canadian work authorization is required.
  • Employment Type: Full-time.
  • Compensation: $100,000-$120,000 annual base + discretionary performance bonus up to 20%
  • Benefits/Perks: 100% employer-paid health benefits starting Day 1 (including up to $6,000 annually for mental health), fully company-funded RRSP contributions scaling up to 15% with zero employee match required, 3–4 weeks vacation plus paid family care and personal days, free parking, and home office equipment allowance.
