Senior Business Analyst – Payments

Roles and responsibilities:
This role is focused on payment technologies, to lead requirements refinement, deliverable decomposition, and end-to-end technology solution design. In this role, you will support critical regulatory updates and business enablement payments initiatives across global regions.
Projects include annual regulatory updates (e.g., SWIFT, ISO 20022), regional clearing requirements, and standing up new payment product rails. The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, possesses strong architectural and analytical skills, and can guide strategic design decisions within a complex, large-scale enterprise environment using Agile (SAFe) delivery practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements & Solutioning: Drive the end-to-end requirements refinement process across business, operations, and technology stakeholders. Translate regulatory and business needs into high-level design (HLD) documents and functional requirements using Agile SAFe hierarchies (deliverables, epics, features, user stories).
- Architecture & E2E Design: Partner with Enterprise Architecture and Engineering teams to design scalable, resilient, end-to-end solutions that align core processing layers with enterprise standards and risk controls.
- Non-Functional Requirements: Define and enforce key non-functional criteria including resiliency, scalability, SLAs, availability, security, observability, and operational readiness.
- Governance & Problem Solving: Identify technical impediments, evaluate solution trade-offs, conduct architecture reviews, and present remediation plans for stakeholder decision-making.
- Backlog Prioritization: Collaborate with Product Managers, Project Managers, and Engineering teams to prioritize technology-focused backlog items and ensure timely delivery.
Must have skills/experience/qualifications:
- Experience: 8+ years of experience as a Senior Business Analyst or Technical Solution Architect in large-scale technology environments.
- Payments Domain Expertise: Deep knowledge of core payment lifecycles and systems, including channels, middleware, payment engines, sanctions, reporting, accounting, and clearing.
- Payment Rails & Standards: Hands-on experience with payment systems and messaging formats such as SWIFT, ISO 20022, FedWire, CHIPS, TCH, SEPA, ACH, and Real-Time Payments (RTP).
- Technical & Architectural Acumen: Solid understanding of distributed architecture patterns (microservices, containerized deployments, API-driven integrations) and event-driven messaging (MQ, Kafka).
- Agile & Tooling: Proficiency with JIRA, Confluence, Visio, and Agile (SAFe) delivery methodologies.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and a proven track record of collaborating across cross-functional enterprise teams.
- AI Tools (Bonus): Exposure to AI tools and models (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude) is a plus.
