Job Description

We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior Network Security Specialist for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in Toronto. In this role, you will take on a premier security consulting, risk assessment, and technical governance capacity, specializing in embedding robust security controls and architecture standards across complex technology initiatives.

As a Senior Network Security Specialist, you will bridge the gap between architecture, infrastructure engineering, risk management, and business stakeholders. Operating within a hybrid work model in Toronto, you will evaluate technology risks, review solution designs, and establish enterprise security guardrails to enable the secure adoption of cloud platforms, containerized environments, AI-enabled solutions, and network infrastructures. This position demands a seasoned security authority with extensive expertise in enterprise network architecture, traffic flow analysis, security frameworks, and governance standards who can influence technology decisions and deliver scalable, secure solutions.

Location: Toronto, ON

Assignment Type: Hybrid (3 days per week onsite, 2 days work from home)

Contract Duration: 1-year contract (with potential for extension and conversion)

Advantages

  • High-Impact Governance: Shape enterprise security standards, guardrails, and risk assessments for major technology programs.
  • Modern Technology Scope: Guide security design for cloud platforms, Kubernetes, AI solutions, containerized workloads, and APIs.
  • Balanced Hybrid Model: Enjoy work-life flexibility with a structured schedule of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.
  • Potential for Growth: 1-year contract offering strong possibilities for extension and conversion.
  • Responsibilities
  • Provide expert security consulting, threat evaluation, and risk assessments across enterprise technology initiatives and project lifecycles.
  • Review end-to-end solution designs to deliver actionable, risk-based security recommendations aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Author and maintain technical security standards, baseline requirements, control mappings, STIGs, and implementation guidelines.
  • Lead security and governance reviews for cloud, hybrid, on-premises, containerized, B2B, and emerging technology ecosystems.
  • Evaluate and define security controls for Kubernetes, cloud-native architectures, API interfaces, SaaS applications, and AI-enabled tools.
  • Design and govern network security controls supporting URL filtering, secure remote access, micro-segmentation, B2B connectivity, and Zero Trust principles.
  • Partner with engineering and architecture teams to integrate standardized security guardrails into deployment workflows.
  • Drive security governance modernization, automation of compliance checks, and continuous process improvements.
  • Analyze complex enterprise network traffic flows and evaluate underlying security implications across distributed environments.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for security processes, architectural reviews, and governance decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering, infrastructure, business, and cyber risk stakeholders to ensure alignment.

Qualifications

  • Professional Experience: Minimum 10+ years of dedicated professional experience in enterprise networking and network security.
  • Network Infrastructure Expertise: Deep knowledge of enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, load balancers, proxies, DNS, and firewalls, with proven ability to analyze complex network traffic flows.
  • Risk & Governance Mastery: Strong understanding of security governance, enterprise risk management, and security control frameworks.
  • Security Assessments: Proven track record conducting comprehensive technical security reviews, threat analyses, and technology risk assessments.
  • Network Security Architecture: In-depth understanding of network security technologies, enterprise security principles, and secure connectivity models.
  • Education: Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or equivalent practical work experience.

Preferred Technical Assets & Certifications

  • Certifications: Recognized industry designations such as CISSP, CCSP, or CISM are considered an asset.
  • Zero Trust & Modern Security: Knowledge of Zero Trust architecture, secure service edge concepts, and modern network segmentation strategies.
  • Automation & Emerging Tech: Experience with security automation scripts, cloud security tooling, or container security.
  • Enterprise Background: Prior experience operating within a financial institution, large-scale enterprise, or highly regulated environment is an asset.

Soft Skills & Delivery Attributes

  • Communication & Influence: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex security risks clearly to both technical and executive audiences.
  • Process Documentation: Strong technical writing skills to produce detailed security standards, operational processes, and governance artifacts.
