Original job description

RAVL is a Canadian, AI-native transformation consulting firm working with financial services clients across advisory, engineering, cloud, data, AI, and delivery. Our consultants work as trusted outsiders inside client organizations, making progress visible from the day they start.

Role Summary

We’re looking for a Developer to join RAVL and work as part of a client delivery team building and evolving modern applications and services. You’ll bring strong software engineering fundamentals alongside practical experience using AI-assisted development tools.

This role is a strong fit for a developer who can contribute hands-on, work effectively within an established technology environment, and use modern development practices and tooling to deliver high-quality software.

What does success look like in this role?

Design, build, test, and maintain reliable, production-quality applications and services
Contribute hands-on to development using NestJS and/or Spring
Work effectively within event-driven architectures and integrate with platforms such as Kafka
Use AI-assisted development tools as part of your day-to-day engineering workflow
Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and contribute to engineering standards and practices
Collaborate with engineers, architects, product partners, and other stakeholders to turn requirements into working software
Identify technical issues and trade-offs early and contribute practical solutions
Participate in code reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement across the development lifecycle

Sounds great, do my skills fit?

The following are core requirements for this role:

Hands-on software development experience with at least one of the following:

NestJS
Spring / Spring Boot

Practical experience using at least one of the following AI coding tools:

GitHub Copilot
Claude Code

Strong software engineering fundamentals, including application design, testing, debugging, version control, and maintainable coding practices
Experience working collaboratively within a software engineering or product delivery team
Ability to understand existing systems and codebases and become productive within them

Mindset Traits

Successful RAVL consultants:

Take ownership of problems rather than waiting for detailed instructions
Balance technical quality with the practical needs of the client and delivery team
Create clarity when requirements or technical direction are ambiguous
Communicate technical decisions clearly and raise risks early
Use AI development tools thoughtfully to improve productivity without compromising engineering quality
Share what they know and help the engineers around them get stronger
Treat working software and client outcomes as the measure of success

Why join RAVL?

Flexible, client-aligned work model - autonomy with accountability, adapting to client delivery needs
Variable bonus & RRSP contributions tied to performance and delivery impact
4 weeks paid time off (plus public holidays)
Paid professional development days and continuous learning opportunities
Comprehensive health & dental coverage, including mental health support
Commitment to lifelong learning - continuous improvement through training, mentorship, and certification

Compensation & Hiring Process

We are recruiting for a future opportunity. The salary range for this role is $120,000-$150,000 CAD, reflecting expected base pay. Total compensation may also include additional pay such as bonuses or incentives, depending on the position, and final offers are based on experience, skills, and qualifications. As part of our hiring process we may use technology, including AI-based tools, to help summarize and assess applications; these tools assist our team and do not replace human review or decision-making.

Equal Opportunity & Accessibility

RAVL is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and accessible workplace. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals and provide accommodations throughout the hiring process upon request.

We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans. If you would like more information about how your data is processed, please contact us.
