Original job description

About the Company

Our client is a software holding company founded in 2024 that acquires, owns and operates vertical software businesses, with the intent to hold them forever. Backed by leading Silicon Valley and Wall Street investors and the families of well-known technology founders, it has raised more than $225M and has grown to roughly 85 people with offices in New York, San Francisco and Toronto.

About the Role

Embed directly with the company's portfolio businesses, ship agentic software into live operations and own the outcomes end to end. This is a Palantir-style forward deployed engineering role: you are not writing decks, you are building running systems that compound across an entire portfolio.

What You Will Do

Embed with portfolio companies to learn how they operate and identify the two or three highest-leverage workflows for agentic software.

Build integrations, prompts, evaluations and UI surfaces to land the first agentic loop at each company on the core platform.

Operate and tune deployed systems after launch and hand off cleanly to portfolio operations once stable.

Be the technical face of the company to portfolio general managers, building trust and setting expectations.

Bring patterns back to headquarters and codify them into reusable playbooks.

What We Are Looking For

Three to six years in full-stack, customer-facing software or product engineering, or forward deployed engineering. A target of four to six years, with startup experience.

Full-stack proficiency in TypeScript or Python, React and SQL, able to own delivery end to end.

Production LLM or agentic software shipped to external users, with evaluations and outcome tracking, and daily use of AI development tools.

Operator instincts and the executive presence to earn the trust of non-technical stakeholders.

Strong tenure at a recognizable early or high-growth startup.

Comfort with frequent travel on-site to portfolio companies.

Bonus Points

Exposure to private equity, consulting or vertical SaaS operating environments.

Ex-founder or founding engineer experience, and Go or TypeScript.

Compensation and Benefits

CAD $180,000-$260,000 base salary plus competitive equity, depending on experience and qualifications.

Location and Work Model

Full-time and hybrid in Toronto, with frequent travel to portfolio companies.

Responsibilities

Embed with portfolio companies to identify high-impact workflows and build, deploy, and improve agentic software systems, including integrations, prompts, evaluations, and user interfaces. Requirements

Candidates should have approximately three to six years of full-stack, customer-facing software or product engineering experience, ideally including startup experience, and be proficient in TypeScript or Python, React, and SQL. They should have shipped production LLM or agentic software with evaluations and outcome tracking, demonstrate strong stakeholder and operational skills, and be comfortable with frequent travel.
