Job Description
RBC Dominion Securities is Canada’s leading full-service investment and wealth management firm. We are committed to helping our clients build financial success through a personalized approach that draws on the full resources of RBC Wealth Management.
Michael Yhip Wealth Partners is a multi-disciplinary wealth management practice within RBC Dominion Securities, serving founders, business owners and multi-generational families with family office-level needs. We act as primary advisor and chief investment officer for our clients, and we coordinate the tax, legal and corporate finance specialists around each family so that advice is delivered under one integrated plan.
We are expanding the team and are looking for an experienced Associate Advisor to work alongside our investment and wealth and estate planning professionals.
What will you do?
- Serve as the day-to-day relationship owner for an assigned group of client families, with a thorough understanding of each family’s goals, structure, risk tolerance and evolving needs.
- Lead regular client review meetings, including agenda, preparation and follow-up, and keep advice aligned with each family’s plan.
- Coordinate the delivery of investment, financial planning, tax and estate services by engaging the right internal specialists and external advisors at the right time.
- Steward clients through complex, multi-year wealth roadmaps, including business transitions, liquidity events and succession planning.
- Identify opportunities to add value, such as additional planning needs, specialist referrals and the consolidation of held-away assets.
- Lead the onboarding of new client families and ensure a smooth, well-documented transition.
- Maintain accurate and compliant records of client interactions, advice and suitability documentation.
- Support the growth of the practice through referrals and relationships with centres of influence.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have:
- 5-10 years of wealth management experience in a role with direct advisory responsibility to enterprising families.
- A demonstrated track record of stewarding clients through a significant and complex wealth management roadmap, such as the sale of a business, a liquidity event or multi-generational planning.
- A track record of partnership within your organization and with external professionals, including lawyers, accountants and other advisors.
- Exceptional client focus, with an instinct for the client experience and a habit of anticipating needs.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication in English, including the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly to clients and their advisors.
- CIRO registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH) and Wealth Management Essentials (WME) completed.
- A clean regulatory and compliance record.
Nice to Have:
- Professional designations such as CFP, CIM, CFA, CPA, TEP, FEA or CLU, or progress towards one.
- A Life Licence (LLQP) to advise on insurance solutions.
- Working knowledge of holding company structures, corporate-to-personal extraction strategies and estate freezes.
- Confidence leading conversations with clients about markets, portfolio performance and fees.
What’s in it for you?
We thrive on the challenge to be our best, to think progressively to keep growing, and to work together to deliver trusted advice that can help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other and collectively work hard to reach our potential, make a difference to our communities, and achieve success that is mutual. You will also benefit from:
- A comprehensive Total Rewards Program including bonuses and flexible benefits, competitive compensation, commissions, and stock where applicable
- The opportunity to work as part of a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team
- Challenging work that will help you grow professionally
- Ongoing opportunities to build close relationships with clients
