What is the opportunity?
As an Operations Specialist I in the Security Reference Data team, you will be responsible for configuring new fixed income, equity, and equity derivative securities within the Broadridge System to ensure accurate and timely trade execution while maintaining full regulatory compliance. This role establishes you as a subject matter expert in securities operations, where your analytical attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities are essential to success in this dynamic, fast-paced environment. You will play a critical role in supporting RBC’s operations by ensuring the integrity of security data across multiple systems and regulatory frameworks.
What will you do?
- Securities Configuration and Data Management: Analyze multiple data elements of fixed income, equity, and equity derivative securities across multiple systems to ensure accuracy and timeliness by cross-referencing Bloomberg, ICE, DTC, and other vendor platforms
- System Setup and Regulatory Compliance: Set up new securities on Broadridge systems to ensure all trades executed in those securities are accurate for financial and regulatory purposes
- Technical Knowledge Development: Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of fixed income, equity, and equity derivative security structures
- Analysis and Exception Processing: Provide accurate analysis and processing support for exception-based, complex, and highly specialized processes within the Operations department; accurately review, verify, and record data into supporting technology systems
- Cross-Functional Support and Customer Service: Liaise and provide support for individuals requiring research, problem resolution, or information from other Operations departments, RBC Business Units, external customers, and industry participants; address escalated questions independently or with appropriate guidance
- Process Improvement and System Optimization: Identify opportunities to reduce risk or increase efficiency by suggesting process changes and system modifications; participate in testing and implementation of new systems and processes
- Training and Mentorship: Train and serve as a resource for other Operations team members
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- 4-year degree from an accredited university (or equivalent) OR High school diploma (or equivalent) AND 3 years of job-related experience preferably within the finance/investment operations industry
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail
- Technical aptitude and ability to quickly learn complex systems and processes
- Knowledge of or ability to develop expertise in fixed income, equity, and equity derivative securities
- Familiarity with securities operations platforms (Broadridge, Bloomberg, ICE, DTC)
- Ability to accurately review, verify, and record data with precision
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and escalate appropriately when needed
- Collaborative mindset with ability to support and mentor team members
- Commitment to maintaining regulatory compliance and understanding departmental procedures
Nice-to-have
- 4-year degree from an accredited university in business, finance or related field
- Previous experience in the securities or banking industry preferred
