We are seeking a Composite Engineer to support design, analysis, development, and manufacturing activities, including R&D, testing, and the integration of new processes. The role also involves improving filament winding processes in close collaboration with internal teams.

Your Impact

Perform hands-on and automated composite manufacturing, including prepreg layup, filament winding, vacuum bagging, and mold fabrication
Support R&D of new composite materials, processes, and manufacturing techniques - including testing at Reaction Dynamics’ partner laboratories
Develop and refine composite manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and repeatability
Collaborate with engineers to translate design intent into robust, manufacturable processes
Create and maintain documentation, including work instructions, quality control procedures, BOMs, test records, and operational guides
Design and fabricate composite molds and tooling for production
Design jigs and fixtures to support composite manufacturing operations

Necessary skills and qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in the design and manufacturing of composite components for aerospace or similarly regulated environments (can include professional, research-based, or advanced student projects)
Knowledge of resin systems, fibers, and process-specific materials (e.g., carbon fiber, fiberglass, epoxy, phenolic, coatings, tooling board)
Experience with CAD tools, preferably Siemens NX
Familiarity with interpreting technical drawings and using basic metrology tools
Hands-on experience with trimming, finishing, and assembling composite parts
Demonstrated ability to adapt and maintain a positive attitude in fast-paced or challenging environments
Positive attitude in the face of challenges and adverse conditions.
Ability to pass Canadian Controlled Goods security checks.

Preferred skills and qualifications

Experience using finite element analysis software with composite materials (NX Nastran preferred).
Experience in composite materials manufacturing processes (ATP, AFP, filament winding).
Leadership or experience leading projects or groups of engineers or research teams.
Experience working with composite pressure vessels.
Knowledge of aerospace-related disciplines including flight dynamics, aerodynamics, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics.
Experience working with Siemens NX, Teamcenter and NX Nastran.
A passion for product design and manufacturing excellence
Passion for rocketry, space flight and space exploration.
Graduate-level studies in an engineering discipline.
Willingness to work extended hours or weekends as needed
Travel to vendors and other Reaction Dynamics sites as needed

This position requires knowledge of and proficiency in English, as interactions with partners outside Québec who do not speak French, as well as compliance with international standards available only in English, are critical. Knowledge of French is considered an asset.

Ta contribution

Réaliser la fabrication manuelle et automatisée de composites, y compris la stratification de préimprégnés, l'enroulement filamentaire, le moulage sous vide et la fabrication de moules
Soutenir la R&D de nouveaux matériaux composites, procédés et techniques de fabrication, y compris les essais dans les laboratoires partenaires de Reaction Dynamics
Développer et perfectionner les processus de fabrication de composites afin d'améliorer l'efficacité, la qualité et la répétabilité.
Collaborer avec les ingénieurs afin de traduire les intentions de conception en processus robustes et réalisables.
Créer et tenir à jour la documentation, y compris les instructions de travail, les procédures de contrôle qualité, les nomenclatures, les rapports d'essai et les guides opérationnels.
Concevoir et fabriquer des moules et de l’outillage pour la production de composites.

Compétences et qualifications requises

Baccalauréat en génie mécanique, aérospatiale ou dans un domaine connexe.
