Your Impact

Perform design, analysis, development engineering, and tests analysis tasks for Reaction Dynamics’ hybrid rocket propulsion systems.
Responsible for developing combustion devices.
Responsible for fluid dynamics and combustion modeling of propulsion components (combustors, injectors, nozzles, etc).
Develop test plans and analyze test results in support of our rocket test facility.
Participate in root cause investigations and redesigns to improve reliability.
Expand existing capabilities and develop new algorithms to improve reliability and thoroughness of all propulsion engineering processes.
Coordinate with engineers and specialists from all disciplines.
Exercise risk-conscious decision-making skills under pressure.
Practice flexible prioritization and scope management to deliver on group directives.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Graduate degree in mechanical, aerospace engineering or any other relevant engineering field.
3+ years of experience in rocket propulsion or combustion systems via professional work experience, projects, or research-based student experience.
Demonstrable proficiency in the principles of fluid mechanics, turbulent combustion, thermodynamics, thermochemistry, mechanics, and heat transfer.
Eligible for Canada Controlled Goods Program.
Ability to obtain security clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.

Preferred skills and qualifications

Experience with analytical and numerical methods in fluid dynamics and combustion.
Analytical/scientific programming experience (Python, Matlab, etc).
Experience with CFD packages to perform fluid mechanics and combustion analysis (STAR-CCM+, Fluent, OpenFOAM, etc).
Experience using CAD to create parts/assemblies (NX, Catia, SolidWorks, etc) an asset.
Understanding of space transportation systems, launch vehicles and/or spacecraft propulsion systems an asset.
Positive attitude in the face of challenges and adverse conditions.

Languages

This position requires knowledge and use of English, as interactions with partners located outside Québec who do not speak French and compliance with international standards available only in English are critical. Knowledge of French is considered an asset.

Impact du rôle

Concevoir, développer, et analyser des tests pour les systèmes de propulsions de Reaction Dynamics.
Responsable du développement des dispositifs de combustions.
Responsable de la modélisation de l’écoulement et de la combustion dans le composant des systèmes de combustion (chambres de combustions, injecteurs, tuyères, etc).
Développer des plans de tests et analyser les résultats de tests pour soutenir la qualification des systèmes de propulsion.
Participer et superviser les campagnes de test de systèmes de propulsion.
Participer aux recherches de causes fondamentales et à la reconception pour améliorer la fiabilité.
Augmenter les capacités existantes et développer de nouveaux algorithmes pour augmenter la fiabilité et la rigueur du procédé d’ingénierie propulsion.
Coordonner avec les ingénieurs et les spécialistes de toutes les disciplines.
Prendre des décisions sous pression en étant conscient des risques.
Avoir une priorisation flexible et gérer la portée afin de livrer selon les directives du groupe.

Compétences et qualifications requises

Diplôme post-gradué en génie mécanique, aérospatial ou dans un autre champ d’études pertinent.
3+ années d’expérience en propulsion de fusées ou combustion via une profession, des projets, ou de la recherche étudiante.
Maîtrise démontrable des principes de la mécanique des fluides, combustion turbulente, thermodynamique, thermochimie, mécanique et transfert de chaleur.
Éligible au programme des marchandises contrôlées du Canada.
Capacité à obtenir une habilitation de sécurité du Programme des marchandises contrôlées (Canada).

Compétences et qualifications souhaitées

Expérience avec des méthodes analytiques et numériques dans la mécanique des fluides et la combustion.
Expérience en calculs analytique et programmation scientifique (Python, Matlab, etc).
Expérience avec des codes CFD pour modéliser des écoulements et de la combustion (STAR-CCM+, Fluent, OpenFOAM, etc).
