Our Calgary-based client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its Finance team. Reporting directly to leadership, this role supports financial operations through month-end reporting, cost accounting, inventory management, margin analysis, and business partnering. Your Success Will Be Defined By Your Ability To
- Prepare month-end entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.
- Maintain general ledger integrity and support monthly reporting.
- Conduct variance analysis and explain budget-to-actual fluctuations.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and year-end reporting.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, controls, and reporting standards.
- Oversee product costing, cost analysis, pricing strategies, and margin profitability.
- Partner with operations, procurement, and sales to optimize costs and business performance.
- Analyze financial and operational data, identifying trends, risks, opportunities, and process improvements.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships and act as a trusted advisor by proactively resolving issues and recommending solutions.
- CPA designation is an asset but not required.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience in public practice or industry.
- Experience with month-end close, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
- Exposure to cost, inventory, or manufacturing accounting preferred; manufacturing industry experience is an asset.
- Strong analytical skills, advanced Excel proficiency, and experience with ERP systems.

Responsibilities
Prepare month-end entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reports while maintaining general ledger integrity and supporting budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and year-end reporting. Analyze costs, inventory, margins, and financial performance, and partner with operations, procurement, and sales to improve business results and processes.
Requirements
The role seeks a candidate with at least four years of progressive accounting experience and experience in month-end close, financial reporting, and financial analysis. A CPA designation is an asset but not required; cost, inventory, or manufacturing accounting experience, advanced Excel skills, and ERP experience are preferred.
