Original job description

Why Redlen Technologies?

Redlen Technologies is a pioneering company that has revolutionized the semiconductor crystal growth and fabrication process.

At Redlen Technologies, innovation is at the heart of everything we do. Our founder's visionary work with the Canadian Space Agency laid the foundation for our groundbreaking Cadmium Zinc Telluride (CZT) sensors, revolutionizing medical imaging, security imaging, and non-destructive testing. We are driving a quantum leap forward in medical CT scanners, elevating diagnostic accuracy while reducing radiation dose– a technological feat that has earned us global recognition. With a commitment to excellence, we have earned the trust of Fortune 500 industry customers, leading to our acquisition by Canon Inc. for $430M– a testament to our industry leadership.

With over 200 dedicated professionals, we take pride in fostering a work environment where Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) professionals thrive. As an equal opportunity employer we demonstrate that diversity drives innovation, and we are passionate about building a future where every employee contributes to our mission-driven success. Redlen's teams, mirroring the multifaceted diversity of Canadian society, exemplify our commitment to leveraging a wide range of ideas and backgrounds as a driving force for innovation, business excellence, and pioneering advancements in STEM.

Redlen is seeking a hands-on Engineer, Test Equipment to support the testing and validation of advanced photon-counting X-ray detector products in a high-volume manufacturing environment. In this role, you will maintain and improve production test systems, investigate technical issues, analyze test data, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable product performance and quality. The role collaborates with Production, Quality, Engineering and other functional areas.

This role is 100% onsite at our Saanichton production facility and is not eligible for hybrid work. Working conditions include use of PPE in production and cleanroom environments, the ability to stand for periods of time and lift up to 25lbs.

Key Responsibilities:

Support and troubleshoot production test systems, equipment, and automated test processes.
Analyze production test data to identify trends, performance issues, and opportunities for improvement.
Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for product and test-related issues.
Apply statistical methods and data analysis techniques to support engineering decisions.
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Product Engineering, and Quality teams to improve product quality and test effectiveness.
Develop and maintain test procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation.
Support new product introductions, test method development, and production scale-up activities.
Drive continuous improvements in test reliability, automation, throughput, and operational efficiency.
Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required

Bachelor's degree in Physics, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
3+ years of experience in a manufacturing, test engineering, or product validation environment.
Strong knowledge of electronics, measurement systems, and troubleshooting techniques.
Experience analyzing data using tools such as Python, JMP, MATLAB, or Excel.
Knowledge of statistical analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical teams

Preferred

Experience with automated test systems, LabVIEW, Python, DAQ systems, or instrumentation.
Experience supporting production test environments in electronics, semiconductor, medical device, or other advanced manufacturing industries.
Familiarity with X-ray, sensor, detector, imaging, or semiconductor technologies

Skills and Competencies:

Analytical problem solver who can translate production test data into practical engineering actions.
Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
Continuous improvement mindset with a strong commitment to product quality, controlled production documentation, test integrity, and reliable manufacturing operations.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $95,000 CAD

At Redlen, we prioritize clarity in our hiring process. The salary range posted above reflects the minimum and maximum for new hire salaries, taking into account factors such as job-related skills and expertise, relevant training and education, and business needs. It is common for ranges to span multiple levels in order to attract top talent across experience levels. It is uncommon to be hired at the top of the range; however, in exceptional cases where a candidate's skills and expertise significantly exceed the role's requirements, we may consider offering a higher salary. If you believe your skill set falls outside this range and you’re interested in exploring opportunities with Redlen, please reach out to our People & Culture Team (T.A. Specialists or Business Partners), specifying how your expertise aligns with our teams, so we can collaborate on potential opportunities. We believe in developing those that demonstrate quality performance and promise.
