On-Call Weekend Supervisor

Department: 927 Clarke Ave. West (Battle Centre), Thornhill, ON L4J 8G6

Employment Type: Part Time

Location: Battle Centre/Day Services/Programs

Compensation: CA$27.00 / hour

Description

The Weekend On-Call Direct Support Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring the effective and continuous operation of Reena’s residential and day service programs during weekends. Serving in an on-call capacity, this role supports the health, safety, and well-being of individuals with developmental disabilities, as well as the staff who support them. The Supervisor is responsible for implementing agency policies, procedures, and Collective Agreement provisions while coordinating staff replacements and providing guidance during complex or urgent situations.

Note: This is a existing position.

Key Responsibilities

Advisory Responsibilities

Adheres to Reena’s policies, procedures, and applicable Collective Agreements
Provides guidance to staff on challenging or unusual situations, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and escalating to appropriate authorities when necessary.
Maintains professionalism and composure while problem-solving with a solution-focused approach.
Ensures appropriate staffing coverage at each location following shift replacements in accordance with established protocols and the Collective Agreement.
Completes all required documentation and administrative follow-up accurately and in a timely manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Collaborates with the supervisory team to ensure smooth and continuous operation of Reena’s residential and day programs.
Provides direct support and guidance to staff during complex or urgent situations.
Exercises sound judgment in making time-sensitive decisions and ensures appropriate follow-up is conducted.
Remains current with and completes all mandatory training requirements.
Collaborates with the System Team and other departments to share information, resolve issues, and improve operational procedures that impact the broader system.
Ensures all significant matters, including serious occurrences, are communicated promptly to the appropriate Manager using the correct reporting channels.
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of Serious Occurrence reporting procedures as required by the Ministry.
Attends scheduled weekday meetings when required.
Participates in required meetings and maintains effective communication across teams.

General Duties

Maintain confidentiality of sensitive or proprietary information belonging to the employer, individuals, or colleagues.
Work collaboratively with others and foster a respectful and inclusive environment.
Participate in workplace investigations when required.
Participate in all mandatory trainings.
Participate in different committees that support the organization.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

College Diploma (Three-year) or undergraduate university degree in a related field; preference given to candidates with a background in Social Services.
Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience, or a combination of leadership experience and relevant coursework.
At least 2 years of direct experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, including those with complex psychiatric, behavioural, and medical needs; must demonstrate a strong understanding and ability to provide effective support in these areas.
Valid certifications in Standard First Aid and CPR are considered an asset.
Strong problem-solving, crisis management, and decision-making skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to support, guide, and collaborate with diverse teams.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with scheduling or case management software are assets.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal; additional languages are considered an asset.
