The North Okanagan is an exceptional place to live, work and explore. We have an immediate opening for the regular, full-time position of Solid Waste Technician. The successful candidate will have a diploma in water quality technology, environmental technology, environmental science or a related field, and a valid BC driver’s license.
Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Environmental Services, the Solid Waste Technician contributes to the efficient and effective delivery of sampling, monitoring, program delivery and data compilation services for the Solid Waste Management function.
You will have sound knowledge of the Environmental Management Act and other relevant legislation relating to environmental monitoring and landfill operations. You will possess excellent knowledge of proper sample collection techniques, instrumentation and monitoring equipment and the ability to evaluate and interpret laboratory results. A working knowledge of organics composting, landfill operations and landfill gas and leachate management systems is also required.
A minimum of two years of environmental or solid waste management experience within local government or an engineering firm is required.
