Original job description

Who we are:

Reliable Controls is dedicated to reducing the carbon footprint of buildings around the world. Our team specializes in the design, development, and assembly of building automation controls and software programs. We're working hard to create solutions for building operators to enable the vision of Net-Zero Emissions by 2050.

We align ourselves with the right people and empower them in the right ways. An established company based in Victoria, BC, we nurture a strong culture of communication, trust, and collaboration. Embracing a work–life balance, promoting continuous learning, and celebrating our achievements are a few of the ways we show our enduring commitment to employees.

Your mission:

As a Production Assembler, you will be responsible for assembling Reliable Controls electronic products in a production environment, ensuring high quality, reliability, and compliance with established standards. You’ll focus on accurate assembly, inspection, documentation, and inventory handling while working closely with Production, Quality, Test, and Engineering teams to support on-time delivery and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will help achieve operational excellence, product quality, and customer satisfaction. This role offers the opportunity to develop technical skills, contribute to innovative products, and work within a collaborative manufacturing environment.

In this role you will:

Assemble electronic products using through-hole, surface-mount, and final assembly processes in accordance with IPC standards and product quality guidelines.

Perform hand soldering, rework, and touch-up of electronic assemblies and circuit boards to meet quality and testing requirements.

Prepare, populate, and stuff electronic components and circuit boards accurately and efficiently.

Operate and maintain production equipment such as SMT, wave solder, CNC, and printing processes as required.

Conduct inspections to verify workmanship and quality, including supporting inspection of work completed by new or junior team members.

Accurately record production data, including job tracking, run time, motion tracking, and quality records using Production Apps and e-Quality systems.

Process inventory transactions accurately within ERP systems and support planning and maintenance of area inventory levels.

Complete production kits in priority order to meet order fulfillment and shipping requirements.

Provide backup support to the Test department, assist with prototype builds, and process RMAs according to established procedures.

This role might be right for you if you have:

Experience assembling electronic products in a manufacturing or production environment.

Hands-on experience with hand soldering, rework, and electronic assembly techniques.

Working knowledge of IPC standards and basic electronic quality requirements.

Experience operating production or manufacturing equipment.

Ability to read and follow work instructions, drawings, and assembly documentation.

Basic computer skills for data entry and production tracking systems.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.

You’ll be successful in this position if you:

Have experience with SMT, wave solder, or CNC production equipment.

Have prior experience supporting testing, prototype builds, or RMAs.

Enjoy mentoring or assisting with training new team members.

Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset and strong teamwork skills.

What we offer:

Competitive Compensation & Rewards: Your hard work and dedication don’t go unnoticed. We offer:

A competitive extended health and dental plan for you and your family

A yearly RRSP contribution on the company’s behalf, plus employee contribution matching to support your financial growth

An annual profit sharing bonus that recognizes your contributions to our growth

A salary that is based on market data and reviewed annually, with merit increases and cost-of-living adjustments

Learning, Mentorship & Growth: We offer $2,000 per year reimbursement for learning and development related to your role, mentorship from experienced team members, and development pathways to help you grow.

Recognition & Celebration: We celebrate excellence with awards and recognition for both long service and outstanding achievements. At Reliable Controls, success is a team effort, and we make sure it’s shared and celebrated.

Purpose-Driven Innovation: At Reliable Controls, innovation means creating sustainable, meaningful solutions that make buildings smarter and the world greener. Every project you work on contributes to a legacy of environmental responsibility and global impact.

At Reliable Controls, we believe that a wide range of perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds make us stronger as a company and as a community. Reliable Controls is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, and we’re committed to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in every aspect of our organization.

When applying for a role, we recognize that each person’s career path is unique. Even if your experience doesn’t perfectly match every listed qualification, we encourage you to apply. We value potential, passion, and alignment with our values as much as direct experience.

We’re also dedicated to ensuring that every candidate enjoys a comfortable, respectful, and accessible interview experience. If you require any accommodations during the hiring process, please let us know.
