East End, Toronto | On-Site | Full-Time

$90,000–$105,000 CAD + Benefits

The Opportunity

We're hiring on behalf of one of our established manufacturing partners in Toronto for an experienced Planning Manager to lead production planning, master scheduling, material requirements and manufacturing capacity coordination.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this is a highly visible role with significant responsibility for production efficiency, inventory management and on-time delivery.

The ideal candidate understands the realities of a complex manufacturing environment - balancing customer commitments, machine capacity, material availability and shifting production priorities while maintaining operational discipline.

We're looking for someone who goes beyond maintaining production schedules - someone who takes ownership of planning performance and delivers measurable results.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Production Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop, manage and continuously improve master production schedules based on customer orders, delivery commitments and manufacturing capacity.

  • Establish production priorities and monitor work orders to ensure timely completion.

  • Coordinate machine utilization, labour allocation and production sequencing with manufacturing leadership.

  • Identify bottlenecks, scheduling conflicts and potential delivery risks, implementing corrective actions to maintain production flow.

Materials & Inventory Management

  • Oversee material requirements planning (MRP) to ensure production has the right materials at the right time.

  • Work closely with Purchasing and Inventory Control to manage replenishment priorities and material availability.

  • Monitor raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods to minimize shortages, excess inventory and production disruptions.

  • Balance inventory efficiency with production requirements and customer delivery expectations.

ERP/MRP Systems & Planning Accuracy

  • Maintain accurate ERP/MRP data, including bills of materials, manufacturing routings, lead times and inventory parameters.

  • Strengthen planning accuracy through improved systems, scheduling tools and reporting.

  • Support reliable production costing and operational decision-making through accurate planning data.

Operational Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor key manufacturing metrics, including on-time delivery, production backlog, schedule adherence, capacity utilization and inventory performance.

  • Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements to productivity, resource allocation and production flow.

  • Provide leadership with clear visibility into manufacturing constraints, delivery risks and recovery plans.

  • Drive greater accountability and consistency across planning processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality and Program Management to align operational priorities.

  • Resolve scheduling conflicts and competing resource requirements.

  • Provide recommendations to senior leadership on capacity planning, production priorities and operational improvements.

  • Establish standardized planning procedures and performance expectations.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing production planning, master scheduling or materials planning.

  • Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems, production scheduling, inventory control and capacity planning.

  • Experience managing production requirements within a manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate operational constraints, resolve scheduling challenges and support on-time delivery.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel, analytical and operational reporting skills.

  • Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Excellent organizational, communication and problem-solving capabilities.

Highly Valued Experience

  • Background in CNC machining, precision metal fabrication or complex contract manufacturing.

  • Understanding of machine capacity, production routings and high-mix manufacturing environments.

  • Experience improving ERP/MRP systems and production planning processes.

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience.

  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification.

What Success Looks Like

The strongest candidate will bring more than technical scheduling experience.

You'll understand how planning decisions directly impact manufacturing performance, customer commitments, inventory investment and overall operational efficiency.

You'll be comfortable challenging assumptions, identifying potential problems early and working directly with production teams to implement practical solutions.

Success in this role means establishing a more accurate, proactive and accountable planning function - one that supports better production decisions and consistently stronger delivery performance.
